On May 25, a major offensive will start in Guild Wars 2, bringing the old episodes of the Living World into focus. This will motivate players to complete old areas and achievements, and those who missed certain episodes can even save real money.
What kind of action is this?
- Starting May 25, two episodes of the Living World will be highlighted each week in chronological order for 7 days each.
- It will begin with Season 2, followed by Season 3 later.
- By highlighting these episodes, players can unlock them for free instead of having to spend 200 gems (about 2.50 euros) each. This will happen automatically when you log in during the respective week.
- In total, you can unlock 14 episodes and potentially save up to 35 euros, which will likely correspond to the selling price of the upcoming expansion End of Dragons.
Who benefits from this? The “Living World Story” action is particularly aimed at returning players who missed an episode in between or newcomers who have not unlocked any episodes yet.
But veterans can also benefit from the event as the old content becomes interesting again. Additionally, there is a new reward for completing all achievements of the two seasons.
Whether it is still worth starting with Guild Wars 2 in 2021, we will reveal here:
New Players and New Rewards for Old Content
What makes the event interesting? The episodes of the Living World are updates that were each introduced with a story chapter, new achievements, and new rewards.
Some of these content updates even contain a completely new area that can only be accessed if you own the corresponding episode. So if you want to know and experience the entire story of Guild Wars 2, you must have all episodes.
However, veterans can also benefit from this event. Because with the spotlight, new players will attempt the story achievements and the areas, making it easier to find fellow players for the old content. At the same time, completely new achievements and rewards for the old content are announced.
What new features are there? The spotlight will introduce new achievements that veterans must complete. There are also numerous old achievements that need to be completed.
Those who complete the achievements of Season 2 and Season 3 of the Living World will receive a voucher for a precursor of the new legendary weapons, which are set to come with End of Dragons.
Additionally, there is a new legendary amulet for all players who have completed all meta achievements of Living World Seasons 2, 3, 4, and the new Icebrood Saga. So those who have missed episodes so far can catch up on a lot of old content while waiting for the new expansion.
Where can I find tips for the Living World achievements? We at MeinMMO have only published a few guides for Guild Wars 2. However, you can find detailed guides for the individual episodes in German from the colleagues at Guildnews.de. There you will find all episodes listed chronologically (via Guildnews).
What else is happening in Guild Wars 2 in 2021? At the end of April, the developers provided an outlook on plans for summer 2021. Besides the event around the Living World, the return of the Marionette, various special events, and a major announcement about the new expansion were also presented:
