In the fantasy MMO Guild Wars 2 , a favorable forecast for NCSoft has further fueled speculation about a possible GW2 expansion.
It is rumored widely, players are wishing for it, the trade press expects it, and the Korean investment firm Daewoo Securities also predicts it: An expansion for the Buy2Play MMO Guild Wars 2 is expected this year 2015.
Daewoo Securities expects increased revenue for the publisher NCSoft in the third quarter of 2015 from the yet unnamed expansion. They anticipate two million sales of the expansion at a price of $50. The basis for this calculation is the figures from Guild Wars 1, where expansions sold nearly as well as the base game.
Daewoo Securities does not provide exact sources for how they arrive at the assessment that such an expansion is forthcoming and also does not guarantee it. They are speaking, so to speak, from “usually well-informed circles”:
