Guild Wars 2 has revamped the mount Skimmer on August 25. It can now also be used underwater. We at MeinMMO reveal to you how to unlock the new ability.
This is what the Skimmer can do now: Since the update on August 25, you can unlock the Skimmer’s new ability “Across the Depths”. This allows the mount to dive underwater at the push of a button and thus be used below the surface.
What this looks like is shown in a teaser video from ArenaNet:
This is how the Skimmer becomes an underwater mount: First, you need to obtain the Skimmer as a normal mount. How to do this is revealed in our guide to the mounts in Guild Wars 2.
After that, you need to unlock the first 4 masteries that were already available before the August 25 update, as well as complete the story of Path of Fire.
With the character who has completed the story, you must now finish the collection “Find Sibaha”. You need to strictly follow the order of events.
Find Sibaha – Here’s how
Read Adra’s letter: For the first step, you need to read a letter you receive in-game. If you don’t receive it immediately, you need to visit a major city (e.g., Lion’s Arch) or directly the Elon Riverlands (an area in PoF).
Get information from Adra in the Skimmer camp in the Elon Riverlands: Here you need to find Adra, the heart vendor, and talk to her about current events.
Check the area around the port of Amnoon for hints about Sibaha’s whereabouts: For this task, you need to talk to the harbormaster of Amnoon. You will find him in the city of the same name in the Crystal Oasis.
Find the mysterious Charr in the Desert Highlands: The Charr is located at the waypoint Hellwater in the Desert Highlands.
Find the “famous water djinn” or speak with someone who knows him: This djinn is Zommoros from the Mystic Forge. Here you can either talk to the merchant Myani directly at the forge in Lion’s Arch or with the djinn himself in the sixth raid wing.
Ask the Quaggan of Moshpoipoi about Sibaha: For this step, you go to the Icebrood Coast to the underwater village Moshpoipoi. There, you talk to Warden Laamaa, whom we’ve marked on the map here:
Help the Quaggan defend Moshpoipoi against the Icebrood: A defense event regularly appears around the village. After speaking with Laamaa, you simply have to wait for it to happen and then participate in the event.
Discuss with Warden Laamaa: After the event, you need to return to Laamaa and speak with her again.
Find the “helpful Largos” in Whispering Bay: The following tasks are probably the most annoying regarding the new Skimmer. You need to find the Largos Aaminah. However, she only appears during a specific event chain in Malchor’s Leap. You will find her either at the Quaggan village or somewhere in the events.
Help Aaminah deal with the Risen: In this step, you must complete one of the events where you fight against the Risen with Aaminah. It could be against a Risen Krait priest or escorting Quaggan refugees. It doesn’t matter which event you participate in.
Get information from Aaminah: Finally, you must speak with Aaminah again. However, you need to be quick because she disappears after completing the “refugee event”. This would require a repeated wait for the entire event chain.
Look for Sibaha around the Krait-infested waters at the Maelstrom Summit: Aaminah reveals to you that you can find Sibaha at the Maelstrom Summit in the middle of a Krait prison on the wooden structure.
Get a cage key from Sibaha’s Krait captors or from the Champion: To obtain the key, you can either defeat the Champion Krait on the wooden structure (guaranteed drop) or kill regular Krait (chance of drop).
Free Sibaha from her cage: With the key, you return to Sibaha and free her from the prison.
Meet with Sibaha in Lion’s Arch: Sibaha is located in Lion’s Arch after her release, below the Guild Hall.
Achieve “Silver” placement or better on Sibaha’s advanced Skimmer course: To complete the collection, you must finish the corresponding race that takes place with Sibaha and achieve at least the Silver rank.
Once you have completed the race, you can level up the mastery that will then unlock the Skimmer as an underwater mount.
Along with this update, ArenaNet also released the trailer for the third expansion “End of Dragons”. It takes you to Cantha and brings back an old acquaintance.
