Istan Farm (PoF and LW4E1)
The Istan Farm is about successfully completing the events in the Domain of Istan. Typically, you start with the Great Hall of Moon Scepters, then proceed to Akilli and then to Palawadan, the largest event. This event occurs every even hour at XX:45. After that, you can return to the next Great Hall.

Transient Magic: Through the events, the enemies, and also on the map itself, you will receive Transient Magic. You can then exchange this at the vendor at the start of the map. The chest with the trophies gives the most, about 29 silver per box. You can find an overview of chest values here.
Champion Bags: To earn a lot of gold with the Istan Farm, you should open the obtained Champion bags correctly. You should consider the following points:
- Champion bags should be opened with a character of level 49-53
- The items contained will be adjusted to the level
- The materials you receive from recycling are the most valuable in this level range
- Rare “Unidentified Gear” should be identified
- An exotic item worth more than 3 potential Ectos should be sold directly
- Recycle rare, masterwork, and fine gear
Yield: Depending on the run and luck, you can earn up to 12 gold in one hour. The method has been weakened throughout 2019 and was previously more effective.
Dragonfall (PoF and LW4E6)
On the Dragonfall map, there is a world event through which a lot of gold can currently be earned. The map was already rated in early 2019 as one of the best maps.
We will tell you how you can earn gold there.
How the event works: First, you need to participate in events scattered across the map to conquer the various outposts. This is important to obtain keys for the later chests.
Once the global event starts, you should also complete as many distributed events as possible. This will earn you not only the rewards for completing them but also additional keys.
Then Kralkatorrik becomes vulnerable. You need to defeat 12 of its weak points. Again, you should aim to complete as many events as possible.
How do I earn gold with this? At the end of the event, reward chests await you, which you can open with the keys.
After that, 9 champions will appear on the map, which you defeat counterclockwise in a large group. Each of these champions gives a champion bag, a key, and spawns three additional chests.
In the end, you have opened 33 chests and have at least 9 champion bags in your inventory. Additionally, there is transient magic that you can exchange, as in Istan, for trophy bags. The champion bags should also be opened as described in the Istan guide.
Yield: Up to 25 gold per hour. Realistically, however, around 15 gold. The good thing is that the event is not time-bound, unlike Istan or events from HoT.
Leather Farming (HoT and LW3E4)
To make the Doric Sea map from Living World Season 3 more attractive, ArenaNet introduced a leather farm in the northeastern part of the map. This is designed for groups.
What do you get leather for? On your way to the top of the tower, you will encounter all sorts of centaurs. These, especially the champions, reward you with leather. Additionally, there are chests scattered throughout the map that also contain leather. You typically go up to the watchtower once and then back down to maximize profit.
Yield: With a good group, you can earn about 15 gold per hour with this method.
Flax Farming (HoT and LW3E5)
With the Heart of Thorns expansion, the crafting material “flax” was introduced. This is needed for several crafting recipes and still yields good profits even years later. To farm flax effectively, there are three special places where a lot of the seeds grow at once.
Where can I find flax the easiest? The most well-known place is in the Verdant Brink at the waypoint Jaka Itzel. Simply glide down from the waypoint to find many of the seeds near the roots of trees. You typically find between 10 and 15 piles of flax.
Where can I find more flax? Additional large gatherings of flax can be found in the Tangled Depths and on the Draconis Mons map. The latter was introduced with the fifth episode “Crucible” of Living World Season 3.
There, you can teleport to the waypoint Heidenhalt and simply drop down until you glide into a cave just below the Wild Heights. You will recognize this cave by the druid back “Stone Circle of the Wanderer.”.
In the Tangled Depths, you need to climb the great tree. This is easiest by starting from the starting waypoint and then using the updrafts.
Yield: In the end, you should have at least 35 flax in your inventory, which is worth about 70 silver. You also have the chance for Flax Blossoms, which are worth another 7 silver. This method can be repeated with any character.
Drizzlewood Coast (LW5E4)
How do you earn gold in the coast? You primarily focus on completing events. It is best to start with a completely fresh map. You earn gold through drops, event rewards, but especially through the reward track of the map and the chests you can open at the end.
With this method, about 15 gold per hour is possible.
Leviathan Farming (EoD)
How do you earn gold with this method? In this method, you want to obtain pieces of ancient amber. You actually receive this as a rare reward for fishing. However, you also get it by killing leviathans in events.
There are two in the game. One event is in the Seitung province and one in New Kaineng. The events have a respawn time of about 15 minutes, but by hopping between the two maps and different instances of the map, you can kill significantly more per hour. It is best to join a group through the LFG tool that constantly tries to do just that.
With this method, you can find about 10-12 pieces of ancient amber per hour. These are currently worth 1.9 gold, which means about 19 to 21 gold per hour.
Raids (HoT and PoF)
How do I earn gold through raids? To earn gold through raids, you need a well-coordinated group or a lot of luck in the LFG tool. This only becomes worthwhile if you defeat the bosses in a few attempts and do not spend hours trying.
This method is therefore aimed at very experienced players and not necessarily casual players. You can earn up to 46 gold per week (bosses only provide rewards once per week). The speed depends on the group.
In raids, higher profits are also possible, as there is the method of “rushing”. In this case, you complete the bosses with nine players and take one player with you who pays for the kills. Per boss, several hundred gold can be earned, which is then divided among the nine players.
