The MMORPG Guild Wars 2 released a patch today with new content. In addition to the story, new armors and weapons have been introduced. We’ll tell you how to get them.
What did the new update bring? The visions of the past brought new story missions around the character Ryland Steelcatcher, as well as old story content from Living World Season 1.
Moreover, the Eye of the North has been reworked and new gear has been introduced:
- The new Rune Armor
- The Rune Cloak
- The Stone Summit Armor
- New Legion Weapons
- The Steel Brigade Banner
- 5 new miniatures

The Rune Armor
What does the Rune Armor look like? The Rune Armor resembles a heavy tank and covers your character nearly completely. While light, medium, and heavy armor differ, the theme is recognizable in all of them.

Where can you get the Rune Armor? The Rune Armor can be purchased from Berghild, an NPC in the Eye of the North. A full set costs either:
- 750 Gold and 350,000 Karma.
- or a victory over specific bosses (1 kill per item) and 350,000 Karma.
You have the choice of how you want to get the new armor.
What about the back piece? In addition to the armor, there is also a new back piece, the Rune Cloak. You receive this when you complete one of the collections for the new Legion Weapons (further down in this guide).
The Stone Summit Armor
What does the Stone Summit Armor look like? This new armor currently consists of only four pieces. Chest and pants are not available. Visually, it strongly resembles armor worn by armored dwarfs and looks identical across all armor classes.
How to get the Stone Summit Armor? Apparently, you get the armor pieces randomly in the attack missions.
The Legion Weapons
What do the Legion Weapons look like? With the patch, five Legion Weapons have been introduced, all with the same base skin, which has been slightly adjusted according to each Legion. Currently, there are:
- Rifle
- Greatsword
- Pistol
- Sword
- Staff
Especially the greatsword looks really cool visually. In the images, you can see the fully upgraded weapon skins.

How to obtain the Legion Weapons? To obtain the new weapons, you must complete collections. These always revolve around the respective platoon member of Ryland Steelcatcher (you can find the collections in the chronicle under “Visions of the Past: Steel and Fire”).
For the collection, you first need to find the Blood Legion skin. You can obtain this from the chest in the Eye of the North, for which you can earn keys through attack missions.
Once you have the Blood Skin, you need to complete some tasks for the respective collection. Throughout the collection, you passively receive the Ash Legion Skin, the Flame Legion Skin, and receive a recipe for the Iron Legion Skin.
At the very end, you will always find the Steel Legion Skin, which looks particularly spectacular. Additionally, you earn 10 achievement points for each collection.
The Steel Brigade Banner
What does the Steel Brigade Banner look like? This banner is a back skin that has the shape of a shield. Attached to it is a banner of the new Steel Brigade.
How to get the Steel Brigade Banner? For this back piece, you must complete the meta achievement of “Visions of the Past”.
Miniatures of the Steel Brigade
What are these miniatures? The miniatures are members of the Steel Brigade that you accompany in missions from the Visions of the Past.

How to obtain the miniatures? For each miniature, you need to complete a specific achievement. Afterwards, you can buy them from the Karma vendor in the Eye of the North. The vendor will also tell you which achievement it is.
Eye of the North as a new hub
What else did the update bring? In addition to the new gear, the Eye of the North has been reworked so that you can use it as a small hub.
Through the portal in the middle, you can enter any attack mission that has been introduced since the start of the Icebrood Saga. Additionally, you can buy expansions for the location from a vendor, including crafting stations, trading posts, and a bank.
Overall, Guild Wars 2 is developing very well this year:
- There is already a roadmap for the next 3 months.
- A third expansion has also been announced, which our author Alexander Leitsch does not find appealing from the setting.
