Elite Specializations: Awaken New Abilities!
The most significant change to the classes is the introduction of so-called elite specializations. If you find your current character a bit too boring and want a little more action and an “epic presence,” you should be very excited. Developing an elite specialization not only unlocks new abilities but also grants characters access to previously unused weapons and the ability to engage in combat in more diverse ways than before.
The ranger can become a Druid, a genuine healer who heals allies while also combating enemies. Engineers will become Scrappers, able to summon a lightning hammer like Thor and knock back their opponents. The elite specializations are unique and promise many new opportunities to deal a heavy blow to enemies.
The New Class: The Revenant
Since permanent death for major story characters is quite an annoying matter, Heart of Thorns introduces a new class. The Revenant is, as the name suggests, someone who has already escaped death once and now draws on the power of ancient legends of Tyria to deal devastating damage or provide support on the battlefield. With a staff in hand, the Revenant can be a competent healer.
Depending on the embodied legend, this changes; when tapping into the powers of the Dwarven Queen Jalis Ironhammer, he becomes a solid tank, while the dark powers of the Demon Mallyx turn him into a master of negative effects. Those who are bored with their current class despite the elite specializations may find new enjoyment in the Revenant.
Guild Halls – Relax a bit or beat each other up?
Social features have also been worked on diligently. Many players have long wanted the return of a place where guild members can hang out together to host their own events or simply let their hero souls rest. With Heart of Thorns, all guilds get the opportunity to claim their own guild halls and decorate them. If that sounds too boring, players can make use of the proprietary arena facility, which can be remodeled in the best sandbox manner and serves as a central point for community tournaments.
The beauty of the whole thing is that unguilded players are not excluded. They can be invited to the guild halls of their friends at any time or support their friends in the reworked guild missions.
