Gryphon
What can the Gryphon do? The Gryphon is the fastest mount in Guild Wars 2, as long as you remain in the air. The Gryphon is not a classic flying mount, but glides slowly but steadily towards the ground.
Its special ability grants it extreme speed through the so-called dive, which can then be used to glide quickly from one point on the map to another.
Through the masteries, you learn the dive and the ability to swing onto the Gryphon in mid-air.
How do I get the Gryphon? The Gryphon is one of the most complex mounts in Guild Wars 2. First, you need to complete the entire story of Path of Fire to start collecting.
After that, you must visit the remains of the last Marshal, located in the Domain of Vaabi, the fifth and final area of Path of Fire.
From there, you will unlock a collection where you need to complete specific events and find eggs in the areas. Overall, the collection will cost you 250 gold.
After completing the collection, return to the remains and receive a new quest: “Open Sky: Wisdom of the Sun Spears.” For this, you must enter the library of Kormir, which can be accessed through the Grave of the Ancient Kings in the Desert Highlands.
There, you must defeat elite enemies to receive keys with which you can find writings. These writings must be returned to the remains of the Marshal. Finally, you must defeat a Moon Crescent Champion, after which you will receive the Gryphon.
A detailed guide on this can be found on the German fan site Guildnews.
Roller Beetle
What can the Roller Beetle do? The Roller Beetle is a special mount that works with momentum. When rolling uphill, the beetle slows down, but when rolling downhill, it speeds up.
With its special ability, the Roller Beetle can race quickly over flat plains, but it will be slowed down once it collides with something.
Through the masteries, it learns to smash certain walls and perform tricks in the air to gather momentum for another race.
How do I get the Roller Beetle? For the Roller Beetle, you need the third chapter of the Living World Season 4 named “Long Live the Lich.” There, you need to complete the first missions “Captured” and “Danger Recognized, Danger Banned.”
After that, seek Gorrik in the northern part of the camp. He will tell you about his beetle Pete and unlock a collection called “Beetle Juice.”
For the Beetle Juice, you need to collect nine bottles scattered throughout the area and return to Gorrik (Marker 10):
After that, you will receive the collection “Beetle Saddle.” For this, you must:
- Defeat Awakened Inquest members. You can find them in the caves near the Dabiji Sinkholes.
- Find a datapad (also in the Dabiji Sinkholes).
- Complete a bounty in the Domain of Kourna.
- Defeat steam creatures (e.g., in the Lornar’s Pass).
- Defeat golems in the Domain of Kourna (mostly in the south)
- Defeat the Legendary Ley Line Anomaly (every even hour at XX:20).
- Defeat the Golem Mark II at the Maelstrom Peak (World Boss)
Step number 3 is the collection “Beetle Feeding.” For this, you need to:
- Complete the event with the scarabs in the south of the Domain of Kourna.
- Complete the Meta event of the Domain of Kourna.
- Defeat Junundu worms (e.g., in the wasteland in the sulfurous areas).
- Defeat the Alpha beetle in the Silverwastes.
- Buy an item for 50 engraved shards from the merchant Millin, the heart at the Apizmic Grounds in the Domain of Kourna.
- Defeat cave worms (found in the Ntouka Pond in the Domain of Kourna).
- Defeat the toxic spider queen in the Kessex Hills.
- And then return to Gorrik.
After that, you will have unlocked the Roller Beetle.
Warclaw
What can the Warclaw do? The Warclaw is a mount specifically designed for World versus World. With it, you can move faster on the PvP maps and make small jumps, similar to the Raptor.
Through the masteries, you learn new skills with which you can attack gates of opposing towers and fortresses.
How do I get the Warclaw? For the Warclaw, you must complete a collection with eight tasks in WvW. What exactly you have to do, we have detailed in this Warclaw guide.
