With Heart of Thorns, ArenaNet changes a lot about the traits and specializations in Guild Wars 2. Through certain elite specializations, the classes are supposed to gain more options to specialize in specific playstyles. The Guardian becomes a Dragonhunter.
Not easy to understand
In an earlier report, we already talked about the new specializations and traits. In short, everything becomes a bit more complicated, at least at first glance. However, the new “Super-Skills,” the elite specializations, are supposed to make you significantly stronger at level 80. These consist of a complete set of damage and support abilities.
The Guardian becomes a Dragonhunter
ArenaNet introduced an elite specialization last week: the Mesmer becomes a Chronomancer. Now it’s time for a second specialization: The Dragonhunter skill for the Guardian. The virtues are slightly repurposed as Dragonhunter, and it requires more player skill to use the skills accurately.
Overview of the Dragonhunter Set:
- Wings of Determination: This grants you wings that allow you to jump into a specific area and heal allies. Of course, the ability can also be used offensively.
- Shield of Courage: Instead of providing Aegis to allies, this virtue as a Dragonhunter creates a shield in front of you that blocks enemy attacks.
- Long Bows: Not only can you use new skills, but also a new weapon with the elite specialization. With the new skill set through long bows, you can, for example, stop enemy projectiles with a deflection shot.
- Setting Traps: What the Ranger has been able to do for a long time, the Guardian will now learn as well. So-called light traps make life difficult for your opponents with Heart of Thorns. If allies walk over the trap, they will be healed.
