The Super Adventure Box makes its return to the world of Guild Wars 2 as a regularly recurring event.
Jump&Run in Tyria – The Super Adventure Box
At first glance, fans had to furrow their brows a bit, as the announcement that the “Super Adventure Box” from Guild Wars 2 is returning suspiciously close to April 1st. However, it seems to be no joke, and the developers have taken the time to dust off the SAB and bring it back to an acceptable state.
The Super Adventure Box is a “game within a game”, as it allows characters to leave the world of Tyria and dive into a classic Jump&Run. Anyone wanting to participate must simply head to Rata Sum and jump into the large glowing portal on the highest level. There, players must fight their way through various levels (with cuddly graphics), buy power-ups, find secrets, and defeat powerful bosses.
While no new game worlds have been developed for the SAB, the old variants have been significantly polished. In the two easier difficulty levels, there are now many shortcuts, and the “correct way,” which was sometimes very hard to find, is now a bit more obvious. However, these changes do not apply to the highest difficulty level: Here, everything is still just as hard as before, although falls to the depths no longer automatically kill – but many other dangers will take care of that.
Some new rewards have been added to the SAB. In the game world within the game, new shops have been hidden where you can buy some new decorations for the guild halls.
The Super Adventure Box will henceforth be an annual event and thus a more or less fixed part of the game world. This year, you still have until April 19th to secure the various rewards or simply spend a few fun hours away from the usual madness of Guild Wars 2.
If you escape from a virtual game world into an even more virtual one… oh, let’s not think about that!
