In Guild Wars 2 there has been a kind of scavenger hunt in recent days: a new recipe for the mystical forge has found its way into the game.
Three days ago, John Smith, an employee of ArenaNet responsible for crafting, opened a thread in the official forum with the cryptic message: Zomorros, the Djinn of the mystical forge, told him he had a new recipe. The crafting system in Guild Wars 2 is a bit of trial-and-error; you combine different items and then try to figure out what works together. The mystical forge always demands particularly expensive materials and then yields special items, so the excitement around the item was huge: What would it be?
Three days and eight clues later, a player, Iris Ng.9845, figured it out, deciphered the clues, and the results are rather disappointing. While the exotic sickle (a dagger) named “Reapers of Soul”, the Soul Reaper, has a really cool name and an inherent Diablo-3 reference, somehow the spark doesn’t quite catch on with the fans. “It doesn’t even sparkle,” can be heard in various places.
Dulfy from Dulfy.net presented the somewhat disappointing result in a video, while some – fairly – were just waiting for this sickle, which had been visible in the wardrobe for a while: “I want this for my Necro!” says one.
