In Black Desert Online there is now an additional companion. It is a cute little fairy named Laila. The fairy does not replace your pets or the annoying Black Spirit. Laila is a new type of companion that provides valuable buffs.
How do I get my fairy?
The good news first: The fairy Laila is free! You do not have to purchase her in the Pearl Shop with real money. Instead, you need to complete a specific questline. Please follow these steps:
- First, you need to have reached level 52 and defeated the boss “Witch Marie”
- Then take the Black Spirit quest “Fairy Queen Teia”
- Go to the Fairy Queen Teia in the Temple of Kamasylvia and give her cooking honey and an item called “Laila’s Petal”. You can ideally get this item through massive grinding or fishing.
As a reward for your efforts, you will receive a sealed fairy wing that you can then use to summon your fairy.
How strong is my fairy and can I have a new one?
The fairy has a random power level and a randomly selected voice. In total, there are 4 of them. The higher the fairy, the more levels she can ascend and learn more and stronger skills.
You can upgrade your fairy to the next power level with larger quantities of sweet honey wine when she reaches the current maximum level.

If you want a new fairy, you must first release the old one. You can only have one fairy at a time. For released fairies, you will receive fairy dust. The quest for a new fairy can be repeated.
You can also reset your fairy and have her power level and voice rerolled, but for that, you need a real-money item from the Pearl Shop.
How do I level up my fairy?
To get a fairy to higher levels, you need to “feed” her with items. The following items are suitable:
- All types of equipment
- Black Spirit claws
- Sweet honey wine
You can make Sweet honey wine from the following ingredients:
- 2 x Cooking honey (top quality)
- 4 x Full-bodied exotic herbal wine
- 10 x Sugar
- 2 x Fruits
What can the fairy actually do? – Laila’s skills
The fairy supports you with extremely useful features. In total, your fairy companion can learn the following abilities:
- Tickling Breath: Increases the duration you can spend underwater before you need air by 5 to 30 seconds.
- Feather Steps: Increases your carry weight before it slows you down by 5 to 25 percent
- Fairy’s Tears: If you die, the fairy will automatically revive you without a death penalty. This ability has a cooldown that ranges from 1 to 12 hours.
- Eternal Well: Once the desert debuff applies to you, you automatically drink tea or water. The cooldown ranges from 5 to 30 minutes.
- Morning Star: The fairy acts as a floating light source and illuminates the dark surroundings. This skill only has one level.
- Cheer Up: You automatically heal with a potion from your inventory when HP/WP/MP/SP are low. The cooldown ranges from 2 to 6 seconds.
The higher the rank of these skills, the longer and more effectively they work.
Also cool: When you have Laila with you, your luck automatically increases by 1. So you’ll find more useful items!
