In Destiny 2, Guardians would be lost without their Vault. Through this item bank, they can store their weapon and armor collections and swap them at will. That’s why Guardians are now concerned that they might run out of space in Witch Queen.
What problem could arise? As the new major expansion “The Witch Queen” approaches early next year, Guardians fear a lack of Vault space. Many realize that with the disappearance of the Content Vault, a wider range of weapons and armors can be collected.
Despite the relatively large Vault with 500 slots, many players have already reached their limit. This hints at dark times for Vault management.
The Witch Queen could worsen the space issue
In the current Season of the Lost, a new weapon and armor element has been added – the “Stasis Element.” As Bungie has weakened builds like “Charged with Light” and “Warmind Cells” through sandbox changes, they want to emphasize the new mods of the elemental sources.
Unfortunately, this has negative effects on the Vault. Many Guardians want to be prepared for every situation. This means that, in the worst case, every element must be present on every Exo. This ensures flexibility in battle, but leads to overcrowded Vaults.
The Witch Queen could make it worse: The anticipated expansion could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. In “Witch Queen,” there will be a new weapon class, known as the glaive. Additionally, the highly anticipated weapon crafting system will also be released.
Many Guardians should already notice here that the Vault, which is already overcrowded, will eventually hit its limits.
This is a dilemma at its highest level. Are you now forced to delete your God Rolls to make room for new weapons? Or do you prefer to hold on to the old items and forgo the new weapons? Neither option is optimal.
What does the community say about it? The topic of Vaults flares up every now and then. However, it was recently overlooked when the Content Vault was still active.
Since now almost all armors are obtainable, Guardians are looking to the future and realizing that problems could arise. They fear that their Vault may not be sufficient, as many items take up space:
[…] At some point, I had 6 one-eyed masks in my Vault because I couldn’t figure out which rolls would work best. And that’s just one example; there are so many duplicate exotic armors that I worry too much about deleting, and I have no time to try them out. […]

Ultimately, we are in a loot shooter. Why should you have to worry about which items to dismantle and which not?
Has Bungie commented on this? Joe Blackburn, the game director of Destiny 2, mentioned in an interview that it is not easy to create additional slots in the Vault. Many things are interconnected. It could lead to massive problems.
Strong items that you have grinded for a long time could possibly disappear. Whether there is a solution to the problems remains to be seen. By early next year at the latest, it will become clear whether the Vault will suffice or burst at the seams.
What do you think about the Vault? Do you also need more space and would even buy slots for Silver? Let us know in the comments if you have experienced any of the space shortage.
