In Destiny 2, a Guardian’s idea meets with a lot of support: If the game cannot grow forever, Bungie should just blow up Mercury.

The Guardian provides the reason for this suggestion: “If the game cannot grow forever, just blow up Mercury to make room for another planet.”

Mercury can go – but how?
This is how Mercury could disappear: The reddit user hopes that some Vex Lords or the powerful Hive Witch Savathun will take on this job soon and blow up Mercury. Because it is known that in Season 8, the Vex will invade us and Savathun’s arrival has been on the horizon for some time.
In the comments, there are further suggestions: Bungie could hold a new community challenge next month, where players must complete a few million activities in the Verdant Forest – and as a reward, Mercury explodes.
Currently, a community challenge is ongoing on Mars, revolving around activities on this planet and promising rewards for all. This community challenge was a spontaneous idea from Bungie, but it has been well received by the Guardians. So why not one for Mercury as well?
What else supports this idea: Luke Smith recently revealed that he envisions game-changing events in Destiny 2 as a kind of community event. Guardians receive a message that something will happen on a specific day at a set time, and they gather in the Tower or at another location to see, for example, a new character appear, stroll through the Tower, and open a previously locked door.
If Bungie accommodates this fan wish, we might gather in the future to witness the exploding Mercury.
Mercury is quite unpopular
This is why Mercury should go: Mercury was introduced in late 2017 with the “Curse of Osiris” DLC. At that time, Destiny 2 was in a terrible state. The Osiris DLC did not improve the problems, but only added new ones and presented a disappointing story around the legendary Warlock Osiris.

Moreover, Mercury as a planet has long been criticized. There were several reasons for this. First, you cannot use a Sparrow on Mercury, and second, the public event is quite long and too rare, making Flashpoints on Mercury feared. On top of that, the Verdant Forest turned out to be a boring PvE activity, despite having the potential for much more.
Guardians mocked that in Destiny 1, a ship (Oryx’s Dreadnaught) offered significantly more content than the entire Mercury – which is pitiful for a planet.
And since Bungie has done little to make Mercury cooler so far, Guardians are now demanding: Blow up the planet to make room for new things!
