What’s new today: Rockstar has announced a new update for Grand Theft Auto Online today. Not much is known about it yet: A short blog post from Rockstar is all we have. But the patch seems to offer quite a bit.
Players are to sign up for a new career under the Maze Bank Arena where they will turn their opponents’ brains into mush, in the name of good entertainment.
Arena War is described as “When relentless gladiator combat meets the highest evolution of vehicle tuning.”
What we know about Arena War:
- New vehicle types tailored for the arena are set to come
- Rockstar promises seven new modes
- Additionally, players will be able to progress in a new career while collecting arena points
- As you rank up, you are supposed to unlock new toys that you can use not only in the arena but also on the streets
What players are saying: On reddit, the announcement is being discussed. Some believe that the “new toys” will be unlockable in the sense that players will have the opportunity to buy them. After all, GTA Online is known for giving very little for free. All vehicles in GTA cost as much as 65 AAA games.
On Twitter, the post is also being discussed. Many are currently saying, “I’m sorry, I’m still stuck in the Wild West.” A large part of the regular players of GTA Online seems to be playing Red Dead Online right now.
But there is also praise that Rockstar is now continuing to support the online mode of Grand Theft Auto 5 alongside Red Dead Online.
When is the update coming? The update is scheduled for today, December 11, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. There is no exact information on the time when Arena War will start.
