Players are looking forward to the big Winter Update 2021 in GTA Online. Everything about the launch, gifts, bonuses, and more. The snow event 2021 has started.
What is the Winter Update? Every year around Christmas time, a big update starts in GTA Online with snow, gifts, and in-game bonuses. For players, this is always a highlight, as usually logging in is worth it just for the gifts. It snows on the map, and the streets of Los Santos become really slippery.
Update from December 23: The snowfall in GTA Online is now active. You can now log in to GTA Online, collect your first gifts, and skid across the icy streets. We have updated the article with all the new information available as of December 23.
When does the Winter Event in GTA Online start?
So far, Rockstar Games has not confirmed the Christmas event for 2021. However, it can be assumed that it will take place as it has in previous years.
Before the snow update, GTA Online released the big December update “The Contract” with new cars and weapons. You can find all the information about this on MeinMMO.
When does it start? The snowfall in GTA Online began on December 23, 2021. It started in the morning. In line with the new bonus week, new content and initial gifts were added to the game.
The gifts include:
- A clownfish mask
- A festive red T-shirt
- A firework launcher
- 20 firework rockets
- Full snacks
- Full armor
- 25 sticky bombs
- 25 grenades
- 5 proximity mines
How long does the event last? In recent years, it snowed for a few days before and during Christmas. After the Christmas holidays, the snowfall stopped for a short while and returned for New Year’s Eve.
What does the Christmas event bring? In recent years, you could snag cool bonuses just by logging in.
- In 2016, there were smaller items like masks and small login bonuses
- The following year, Rockstar Games sold you an old BMW at a reasonable price
- In 2019, Rockstar Games gifted you this cool mini-tank
- In 2020, Rockstar Games rewarded you with a go-kart for Christmas
Additionally, you usually receive full ammunition, snacks, firework rockets + launcher, and full armor on a daily basis. For the Christmas spirit, clothing, masks, and accessories should of course not be missing. The event is accompanied by bonuses that offer enhanced rewards in certain missions.
Moreover, it snows in Los Santos. Everywhere on the map, the streets and pathways are covered with snow, inviting action-packed drifts. So make sure to equip your vehicles with the right tires and get ready to drive more sideways than straight.
If you don’t like sliding through the streets in a car, your character can also pick up snow from the ground, shape it into a ball, and throw it at other players, NPCs, or cars.
