Alarm in der Community von GTA Online. Players who pushed the garage glitch too far now have to play with a harsh penalty.
What happened? On reddit and Twitter, players from GTA Online report that they were penalized for exploiting the garage glitch.
The penalty involves resetting your account. All characters, progress, and inventory in GTA Online will be reverted to their original state. In other words: The glitchers lose everything they had gained.
In addition, they also lose all the content that they may have earned in GTA Online without glitches through hours of grinding. So using the glitches has a huge downside and is a harsh penalty for some players.
However, the community also hears that some players do not regret using the glitches and can cope with the penalty. But why?
How Rockstar Cracks Down Hard – Money Wipes
What a victim says: On reddit, player poplfopl shares a screenshot. He writes that his account was reset. “The only glitch I used was the garage glitch and I made about 350 million [GTA Dollars] with it. Others who earned about the same or more, be careful.”
He also shared this screenshot showing the notification from Rockstar Games. They state that he violated the terms of service or EULA. All his characters, progress, and inventory in GTA Online have been reset.
“Resetting characters in GTA Online happens due to a variety of offenses such as data modding or selling user accounts,” states the email.
Who is affected? It is unclear how often one had to use this glitch to be affected by a reset now. However, we generally advise against using glitches in GTA Online. Because as seen in this case, all your earned content can suddenly be gone.
“I regret nothing!”
This topic is currently causing a stir in the glitch community. In recent months, many glitches, such as the apartment glitch, have been used extensively over many days. Players exploited the game’s mechanics in combination with disconnects to flood their accounts in GTA Online with money.
What would normally require days of grinding could be done comfortably in just a few hours. Occasionally even through scripts, allowing players to earn money “afk” while the script automatically performed the necessary steps for them.

This is what players say: In the comments on reddit, one player writes, “I regret nothing. The majority of my time in this game was spent grinding, and I never had fun. The last 2 weeks were the most fun for me. Finally, I could play the game instead of working 6 hours a day in this damn game.”
Others write:
- “The glitch week was the best week – so peaceful. After that, only hackers and modders were left […]”
- “I expected a reset, but I still glitched and had a lot of fun. It’s true. I just logged in and was reset.”
- “Man, if they reset all players who used the glitch, that’s huge. So many players did that.”
- “Me too, and it was my first glitch. I already had all the businesses and only did it to get vehicles I had always wanted. It’s a shame because this is my favorite game, but there’s no way I’m starting from scratch again.”
Do you think it’s good that Rockstar cracks down so hard, or do you believe that glitchers don’t actually harm the online world?
A whole different group of players are the nasty cheaters. This clip shows how to really annoy God-mode hackers in GTA Online.
