With this overview, we aim at beginners in GTA Online, but also players who have been around longer and just want to ‘make sure’ they don’t make the mistakes.
1. Buying the wrong businesses
What is the problem? Those who want to make money in GTA Online need businesses. However, there are a lot of them, such as:
- Nightclubs
- Hangars
- Bunkers
- Marijuana farms, cocaine, document forgery, counterfeit money, meth
- Workshop
However, the various businesses bring in more or less money, so it would be a mistake to start with a marijuana farm if you want to make a lot of money quickly. A hangar or a nightclub is also not very suitable for starters.
What should you do instead? With car trading, you can earn good money in GTA Online. If you also have a passive income from your cocaine lab, then these two businesses work well together, and you can quickly earn millions with them.

2. Playing heists as a noob
What is the problem? The heists in GTA Online are a good source to earn a lot of money. Depending on the heist, you can get millions into your account if you complete the job correctly. The problem is that many new players smell the “quick money” and want to join in.
However, heists require a large amount of skill and know-how in GTA Online. Those who have just started and are still in the lower level range are limited in their weapon and armor choice. With weaker equipment, it is more likely that you will die quickly. And due to the limited team lives, this can quickly lead to frustration and lost time for your teammates.

3. Ignoring daily objectives, they can bring so much money
What is the problem? Many players forget that there are daily objectives in GTA Online. You can access them via the interaction menu, and they change every day. Especially new players often struggle with a lack of money, which could easily be solved by daily objectives.
What should you do instead? Complete the daily objectives every time you log in. Because it’s really worthwhile for you. There are three daily objectives per day. If you complete all three objectives in one day, you will receive money for it. If you complete three objectives for seven consecutive days, you will receive a bonus. If you maintain this for an entire month, you will receive an even bigger bonus!
Daily objective rewards at a glance:
- Daily: 30,000 GTA Dollars + 5,000 RP
- Weekly: 150,000 GTA Dollars + 20,000 RP (available every seven days!)
- Monthly: 750,000 GTA Dollars + 50,000 RP (complete all three daily objectives for 28 consecutive days)
Keep in mind that only the days you log in count for this. If you complete all three daily objectives on Monday, do not play on Tuesday, and then complete all three daily objectives again on Wednesday, that counts as “two consecutive days”.
4. Spending a lot of money on clothes
What is the problem? In addition to cool cars, weapons, and businesses, GTA Online offers additional ways to spend money. Clothing stores lure with shoes, hats, shirts, pants, or complete outfits. However, you might pay 100,000 GTA Dollars when you outfit yourself. To earn that money back for expensive outfits, you need to grind contact missions for several hours.
Many new players run to one of the clothing stores early on and spend the first money they earned on clothes. After that, there is hardly any money left for the important purchases.
What should you do instead? What clothing you wear is a secondary matter in GTA Online. In heists and other missions, there is often the opportunity to dress you with predefined outfits for free. Use this to temporarily adjust your clothing for free and invest the money in important content instead.
Tip: The same goes for expensive cars. In the beginning, it is not essential to own the expensive supercar for 3.5 million GTA Dollars. Invest first in your businesses so that you can generate money more easily over time.
5. Ignoring weekly bonuses
What is the problem? Many players ignore or do not know that there are certain bonuses in GTA Online every week. This results in many of you missing out on a lot of money. Because in some bonus weeks, the sales from your cocaine lab bring in three times as much money. If you choose to leave this business right during that week, you are giving away many millions of GTA Dollars.
What should you do instead? Every Thursday, you should check the official website of Rockstar Games or when you log into the game to find out what bonuses and offers are available. The bonuses are available on money and RP. Offers are available on properties and vehicles as well.
Take advantage of these offers and bonuses to make your character even stronger or finally buy the armored car you’ve always wanted for your missions. If your car is not on sale, Wednesday evening is always the worst time to buy it. Because starting Thursday, it might be on sale for a week.
