On the night of Saturday to Sunday, September 18th, a user on “GTAForums” shared links to 90 clips of the highly anticipated GTA 6. They are now circulating on the internet: especially one YouTube video seems to actually offer images from the game by Rockstar that everyone is waiting for. Gaming insider Jason Schreier calls it the “biggest leak in the history of Rockstar.”
Where do the leaks come from?
- In the forum “GTAForums”, a user named “Teaportuberhacker” posted a data file that supposedly contains 90 videos and footage – the data is 3.4 GB in size (via gtaforums).
- He claims: The videos come from a “test build” of GTA 6.
- These videos are now spreading rapidly on YouTube, Twitter, and Reddit.
“Raw” gameplay video shows heist reminiscent of Pulp Fiction
This is the most exciting video: A 3-minute video has already been circulating on YouTube.
The video shows a character named Luca robbing a waffle restaurant, threatening the staff, who respond with a Slavic accent.
Action music plays in the background, an accomplice threatens the restaurant patrons, police sirens wail, and it all somewhat resembles a scene from Pulp Fiction.
GTA 6 looks like rough, hard-hitting action
What stands out: Especially the lines from the criminal accomplice create tension in the clip and put pressure on the player:
- “If I take one of you out, I might have to take them all out”
- “These are the cops. What the hell do we do now?”
- “I’m just waiting for a reason”
- “Don’t even try anything.”
- “Nobody wants me to use this.”
The clip then ends with the character shooting a restaurant patron and asking: “Who wants to be next?”
Insane talk by the pool
What other clips are there? On Twitter, there is about a 1-minute video showcasing strange “conspiracy” talk at the edge of a swimming pool:
- People talking about how someone can “download your brain and sell it to the Chinese”
- that some idiots even believe there is a country called Finland
- one must “break out of the damn cage”
What is the reaction to this? In the forum, the leaker was first insulted before taking a closer look at the content. A user then judges: “This might be the first real leak of GTA 6.”
At the moment, people are apparently busy reviewing the material before Rockstar or Take-Two takes it down.
Leak apparently created through “social engineering” – sneaked into Slack group
How did the leaker get this data? From the few details we have, it is said that the leaker used “social engineering” to sneak into a Slack group of Rockstar employees.
This seems to be easier during times of “working from home due to COVID” than it used to be.
“The biggest leak in the history of Rockstar”
Experts say: There seems to be something to the leak. Gaming insider Jason Schreier calls it the “biggest leak in the history of Rockstar” (via twitter).
