The probably most important part of the blog post for many in the community revolves around a new installment of the series. Everyone is hoping for a Grand Theft Auto VI, so GTA 6.
“GTA VI” not named, but suspected
This is what Rockstar Games explains: In the blog post (via rockstargames.com), it states:
“Given the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know that many of you have been asking us for a new installment in the “Grand Theft Auto” series. With every new project we undertake, it’s always our aim to go well beyond what we’ve delivered so far – and we are pleased to confirm that the active development for the next installment of the “Grand Theft Auto” series is in full swing. We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready. So please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.”
Is there a release date for GTA 6? No, that is not known yet and not foreseeable. The active development is good news for fans. However, deriving a release timeframe or even a date from this would be mere speculation.
Insider Jason Schreier has already given an initial assessment on the release of GTA 6. And it may not be as far off as many believe.
What do we still know about GTA 6? So far, news regarding a new installment of the GTA series has been quite thin. Fans have been thinking that the game is already in development. However, that has not been officially confirmed. The last official words came from Strauss Zelnick, the head of the publisher Take-Two. He mentioned that one should let a game series rest for a while so that the release feels like a major event. What Zelnick also said about delaying games.
The publisher has also secured patents for improved open world a few years ago. These relate to the calculation and generation of objects in an open world, and NPCs and traffic could also benefit from this.
