This rocket launcher is actually intended to defend against enemy planes or helicopters in GTA 5. However, players found a funnier use for the heavy device.
In GTA 5 Online, there are various ways to defend against hostile helicopters or planes. One of them is the Chernobog: a mobile rocket launcher that takes out flying enemies from a great distance.
However, the community prefers to use the Chernobog to launch players, cars, or helicopters into the air.
The rocket launcher works differently than expected
The anti-aircraft vehicle “Chernobog” made its way to Grand Theft Auto V through the Doomsday Heist update in December. Shortly after its release, players discovered uses for the vehicle that the developers probably did not anticipate.
The reason for the new use cases are faulty gameplay functions. These are triggered by:
- the large rocket holder that is mounted on the vehicle and can be controlled by the driver
- and the retractable supports of the Chernobog
Apparently, the rocket arm on the Chernobog is so incredibly strong that it can easily flatten vehicles. With exactly this power, vehicles or people are simply thrown into the air.
For more stability when firing rockets, Chernobog drivers can extend the vehicle’s supports. However, these are so sensitive that they completely lose control when touching other vehicles. If a Chernobog drives onto a Mobile Command Center and extends its supports there, both vehicles are catapulted into the air.
Cargobob vs. Chernobog, who is transporting whom?
Players tried to move the Chernobog with the Cargobob, a helicopter for transporting vehicles or crates. As you can see in the following video, this does not turn out well for the Cargobob.
The helicopter is simply tossed around wildly by the rocket vehicle, contradicting all the images one previously had of the Cargobob.

Of course, the rough, faulty functions of the Chernobog are also good for jump-starting large machines.
