For a long time, there have been rumors about a new Premium Edition of the popular action title GTA V. These have now been confirmed. The GTA 5 Premium Online Edition is now available in stores for PS4 and Xbox One. What does this edition offer, and who is it really for?

The rumors have ultimately come true – the GTA 5 Premium Online Edition is now available at retail for the PS4 and Xbox One. This edition is also expected to be released digitally next week for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. We take a look at what the new version from Rockstar has to offer and tell you who it would be a worthwhile purchase for.
GTA 5 Premium Online Edition – what’s included
The Premium Online Edition of GTA 5 includes the complete current story experience as well as the full package of the ever-expanding world of GTA Online. Buyers receive all previously released gameplay upgrades and expansions, including The Doomsday Heist, Gunrunning, Smuggler’s Run, and more.
Furthermore, it now also includes the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack, which brings various content for GTA Online including properties, businesses, weapons, vehicles, and more worth 9,000,000 GTA$. Additionally, there is also 1,000,000 GTA$ for exclusive use in online mode.

For comparison: Overall, this pack has a value of about 10,000,000 GTA$ and costs a hefty 44,99 € by itself.
Who is the GTA 5 Premium Online Edition for?
For all existing owners of GTA 5, the new package is likely to be rather disappointing and does not fundamentally make sense. The game offers nothing except the Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack and the 1,000,000 GTA$ that hasn’t already been received by buyers of the standard GTA 5 through previous updates. Moreover, unlike its predecessor, GTA 5 has not had any story DLCs or other extensive single-player expansions so far.

Thus, the new edition of GTA 5 is actually only aimed at potential new customers and is entirely designed to provide new players with as comfortable and comprehensive an entry as possible into the world of GTA 5 Online.
If you are already a proud owner of GTA 5, you can confidently skip the new Premium Online Edition. If you are still interested in the bonus content, it would even be better to take a look at the separately available Criminal Enterprise Starter Pack.
Because the GTA 5 Premium Online Edition really only makes sense for new players who do not yet own the original GTA 5.
