The players of GTA 5 Online report a large wave of bans that apparently kicks many innocent gamers out of the game.
In the GTA 5 community, reports of many thousands of bans have emerged since the weekend. These are either issued by mistake or without good reason since the last update. Affected are PC players, a large portion of whom are sure they are innocent.
Bans on innocent players?
Last Friday, the new update The Southern San Andreas Super Sport Series was released for GTA 5 Online. With the update, new vehicles and the stock car mode inspired by GTA Vice City are making their way into the game.
Since this update, reports of bans lasting 30 days have increased. At first, the community was skeptical of players claiming they were banned unjustly. After all, almost everyone would claim that they “never did anything prohibited” when banned. However, the growing number of ban reports is now leaving a sour taste. Perhaps the bans are not justified?
In a thread on Reddit, it is said that Rockstar’s anti-cheat software seems to be failing. Players use their own anti-cheat software in combination with Rockstar’s. Since Friday’s update, everyone in online sessions has been marked as a “cheater,” including gamers who do not use cheats. The following screenshot from a Discord server was taken by a player with their own cheat detection.
In the Rockstar support forum, a player with less than 10 hours of gameplay reports that he was only able to play briefly with his girlfriend before being banned. The bad mood is also strongly reflected in the reviews of Grand Theft Auto V on Steam. Since Saturday, March 24, negative reviews have been increasing significantly.
So far, there has been no official statement from Rockstar on this issue. It is unclear what is causing the many bans and how many of them were distributed without reason, possibly by mistake. The bans last for 30 days and also reset progress (characters, progress, and inventory) on the PC.
