In the latest YouTube video from Gronkh, he shares his concerns about the gaming fair gamescom and announces that he would no longer appear as a creator at the fair if it helps to solve a problem. What problem he sees and how he intends to solve it is explained to you by MeinMMO.
What is the video about? On September 3, Gronkh released a video titled “Too many influencers at gamescom?”, in which he addresses the issues surrounding gamescom 2023 and presents his proposed solutions.
Although he loves gamescom and wants to support its continuation, he is worried about the increasing number of visitors who are flocking to the fair mainly because of the influencers and buying up the tickets from real gamers. He sees this as a concerning development that is steering the fair in the wrong direction.

Gronkh fears that gamescom could spiral downwards
What problem does Gronkh see? Gronkh points out that gamescom is designed as a gaming fair. However, in recent years the fair has attracted a growing number of influencers who have little to nothing to do with gaming.
Gronkh says that he has particularly noticed a multitude of TikTokers who have nothing to do with gaming. Creators seem to have seen MontanaBlack’s appearance in 2022 and now want to have “some cloud” as well.
This development leads to the original booths of gaming publishers receiving less attention and publishers withdrawing from the fair.
As a result, the fair fills the gaps with booths from entertainment companies like Netflix, Disney, and TikTok: This makes the fair less attractive for people who want to see new games.
This creates a vicious circle in which the original target audience of the fair is lost.
Additionally, Gronkh has noticed the behavior of some visitors. He himself had a meet & greet during gamescom next to the creator booth of Red Bull. While his fans patiently waited in line, they played UNO together and sang songs to pass the time.
At the same time, Gronkh reported negative incidents at the neighboring booth, the “Red Bull Lounge,” where visitors threw objects against windows when no creators were visible.
He emphasized that security should have intervened, which did not happen. The incident in 2022 with MontanaBlack had already caused some people to rethink.
“Influencers away from gamescom”
What conclusion does Gronkh draw? To address this problem, Gronkh suggests that influencers should only appear as guests at gamescom in the future. However, he emphasizes his uncertainty about whether all influencers should be excluded or just some of them.
He sees cosplayers as a different category that should continue to be part of gamescom.
How does he want to solve this for himself? Gronkh presents an innovative solution to solve the problem for his own community. He plans to organize small events from next year onward, where visitors do not have to wait hours in the sun.
These events would take place around gamescom, so that people go to the fair not for him, but for the games.
A total of four small events per year are planned to take place in various regions of Germany to allow as many fans as possible to participate. Even now, there are many questions and critical voices in Gronkh’s chat regarding the implementation of his idea. However, he takes it with humor and emphasizes his serious goal: more time for his fans and more relaxed conversations.
However, it remains to be seen whether and how his events will take place. The future of gamescom and the role of influencers will continue to be a topic that moves the gaming community.
