A Reddit user recently purchased a used game via eBay. What he did not expect: The seller left him a personally written note.
Which game is it? The first Dark Souls from 2011 has already been around for a few years. Nevertheless, it is still played – even by new players. Perhaps because they have tried the later installments, or Elden Ring, which is receiving its major expansion this month.
However, the games from FromSoftware are not for everyone. For this reason, or to save money, some players resort to used versions of the old games. Such was the case with the Reddit user Comfortable-Safe1839, who bought Dark Souls on eBay and experienced a real surprise when he opened the packaging. Besides this, there are also offers on eBay that are anything but cheap.
Fans of the developer FromSoftware can look forward to the upcoming expansion of Elden Ring. Here you can see the trailer for the story, for which we have summarized more information on MeinMMO:
“It’s really difficult”
What did the player find? Comfortable-Safe1839 shares his experience on Reddit. He bought a used PS3 version of Dark Souls on eBay. A note was stuck to the disc, and it contained a message from the seller.
It read: “Good luck with this game! It’s really difficult. I stopped after 20 hours. Have fun!”
A polite gesture, as the Reddit user found. At the same time, it is also a warning about what the player can expect on his adventures in the land of Lordran. Dark Souls is rightfully regarded as one of the most difficult games and cemented the series’ reputation as a challenging gaming experience.
After all, the seller endured 20 hours in the game before passing it on. Whether the new, happy owner has any experience with the Soulsborne games cannot be inferred from the posting.
How does the community react? Users on Reddit endorse the seller’s message. User North-Blueberry-6547 states: “That’s sweet of him, you should buy more from him and give him more stars.”
Other users share similar experiences from their online purchases:
- “I love it when people randomly do such things. I once bought a Batman game and the envelope was sealed with Batman stickers,” shares FaceTransplant.
- “When I bought Bioshock Infinite years ago, an eBay seller sent me a free action figure of Elizabeth,” writes Slayerpod.
- “I bought Dark Souls from someone on eBay. We met in person and it cost about 1/4 of the retail price. I asked him why it was so cheap and he said he threw his controller against the wall after an hour,” recalls user wiedziu about his first encounter with Dark Souls.
It once again shows that such small gestures are well received by people. All we can do is hope that the buyer in this case will be happy with Dark Souls and not similarly frustrated and give up after a few hours. Have you ever experienced a similar story? New players of FromSoftware’s latest game, Elden Ring, also continue to struggle – but not just because of the tough fights.
