God of War completely revamped the series
How does God of War play? While earlier parts became famous as hack-and-slash games, God of War 4 completely revamps the gameplay.
You play as Kratos from a third-person perspective, exploring a more or less open game world, collecting equipment, unlocking new abilities, and upgrading your stats using skill points and gear.
In combat, you are actively supported by Atreus, who can also be indirectly controlled. The gameplay is quite demanding.
The game world is open but rather compact and labyrinthine. As you progress, you unlock new paths and explore the mysterious world of Midgard.
Midgard also serves as a hub to access the other worlds from Norse mythology via the World Tree. You explore places like Helheim, the Norse hell.
In 2020, the sequel God of War: Ragnarök was announced. However, there is still no exact release date for it. The game is also supposed to come out in 2022.
Will the sequel also come to PC? This is currently unknown. So far, Ragnarök has only been announced for PS4 and PS5.
