God of War has always been one of the flagship series for Sony’s PlayStation – and now it returns to its roots.
God of War 4, which will be released under the simple name “God of War”, represents a reboot of the series. However, not in terms of the story, as it takes place after the third part. Olympus is destroyed and anti-hero Kratos struggles with his uncontrollable rage. In the trailer shown by Sony during the E3 press conference, one gets a glimpse of an aged Kratos.
This is God of War!
He goes hunting with his son, as it is time for the boy to become a man. You take on the role of Kratos and follow the boy into the forest, where he is to hunt game. You follow the tracks and eventually discover a deer, but it escapes. After a confrontation with demons and a mighty beast, the deer is finally brought down and Kratos prepares his son for the future.
The trailer shows what a new God of War looks like on the PlayStation 4. A huge, open world and combat that seems to overshadow even the conflicts from the predecessors. The battle against the boss monster is spectacular and film-like in its presentation. There isn’t much information about the game yet. However, Sony plans to reveal more over the coming months. But what has been seen so far definitely makes one eager for more. All fans of the “God of War” series can expect an action spectacle.
How exactly God of War is to be understood as a reboot, will probably be revealed in due course. At least for Kratos, the new adventure represents a kind of new beginning. A release date has not yet been set, but the game will be released exclusively for Sony’s PlayStation 4.
