Usually, raids in Destiny 2 can be attempted with a maximum of six Guardians. Now players have discovered a glitch that allows you to start with more people.
What is this glitch? Normally, raids in Destiny are designed for groups of six players. With the help of a bug in the player matchmaking, players can now also start a raid with up to 12 Guardians.
In dungeons and nightfalls, smaller groups allow for up to 9 players. This is not the first glitch of this kind. In July 2020, Guardians ended up with up to 20 other players in a strike.
Apparently, the glitch has been in the game for a while (via Forbes.com), but it’s only now becoming widely known. How does it work?
Timing is key
This is how the glitch works: To start the raid with 12 players, you must join through the matchmaking feature. Timing is crucial here.
- You must join another player at the start of the desired activity with your team.
- This must happen just when the timer counts down to 0 before the start.
- This works best if you join directly with a team of 6 or 3 players instead of individually. Then only the group leader has to catch the right moment.
The easiest way to do this on PC is through the join codes, as you just have to enter the code and confirm at the right moment. The glitch also works on consoles, although it seems to be significantly more difficult there.
In the YouTube video by Cheese Forever, you can see how this looks:
If your timing is right, you can participate in raids with up to 12 players, and in Nightfall and dungeons with up to 9 Guardians.
However, you should hurry if you want to try this out. The community manager has already commented on the glitch on Twitter. Bungie is likely aware of the glitch and will probably fix it as soon as possible.
Under the community manager’s comment, however, many players wish that this does not happen. They celebrate the opportunity to start raids with more Guardians.
What do you think of the glitch? Have you discovered it yet? Should it stay in the game, or will raids then become too easy? Do you want a general increase in group sizes?
