In Red Dead Online, there are currently piles of dead animals at the trappers. This is due to a glitch that allows players to easily earn a lot of money.
Why are so many cougars spawning? On Reddit, players are posting screenshots from their online sessions. They noticed unusual piles of dead animals at their local trapper. They ask other players what it’s all about. Players explain that there is currently a way to easily earn a lot of money with the cougars.

This glitch is to blame: Players discovered that there is a glitch with animal corpses. First, you hunt and take down a cougar, preferably one with 3 stars. Then, you take the dead animal on horseback to the trapper’s stand. Players park the horse with the animal on its back at the trapper and then go into a clothing store. After a few seconds, the horse despawns, and the carcass falls to the ground.
If you now call your horse back, it comes galloping with a new cougar carcass on its back. Players repeat this over and over again and earn a lot of money from it. Each cougar is worth $13.50. Not quite as much as with this glitch in singleplayer:
As Kotaku reports, there are also other variations of the glitch related to the passive mode glitch or speaking to the trapper.

Why does this glitch exist? According to a Reddit thread, the last update has caused this glitch to be executable. Something seems to have changed in the way Red Dead Online handles loot on the backs of horses. A crazy bug once made it rain burnt boats in Red Dead Online. Here’s how it looked:
Why are players doing this? Many report that they want to get back at Rockstar. Some players were upset that an update halved hunting profits.
One player writes on Reddit: “If Rockstar wants to screw us over, I’m screwing them back.”.
The glitch is controversial: Not everyone in the community is celebrating the glitch. Many players complain that players are circumventing the economy with such a trick and are receiving much more money. They are providing feedback to Rockstar Games about the existence of such a glitch and hope that it will be fixed soon (via Reddit).
Is the glitch still active? Some players report that this glitch method has now been disabled by Rockstar. However, others explain that they are still earning money with it. It is therefore unclear whether and how this is still functioning.
The community firmly expects that Rockstar will soon fix this glitch. After all, you make an incredible amount of money in the game with it. Whether the ill-gotten money will remain with the players or be deleted by the developers is also unclear at this time.
To improve the online mode of Red Dead Redemption 2, players are now wishing for these features:
