EA has revealed first details about the next Battlefield. German Battlefield expert Fabian Siegismund has taken a closer look at the information.
Who is it about? Fabian Siegismund is a German content creator who primarily plays shooters on his YouTube and Twitch channels.
- In the past, Siegismund specifically gained attention with tips and tutorial videos about Battlefield.
- Currently, he mainly plays the extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown, but is occasionally seen in other shooters as well.
- Before founding his own channels on Twitch and YouTube, he was an editor at GameStar.
- In 2024, Fabian Siegismund was also nominated as Player of the Year at the German Computer Game Awards but lost to Maurice Weber.
As a die-hard Battlefield player, Siegismund naturally also watched the latest video about the newly introduced testing program “Battlefield Labs”.

Cautious Optimism thanks to Playtests and Regular Soldiers
What does Siegismund say about the video? Fabian Siegismund expresses criticism regarding the latest Battlefield video but is also cautiously optimistic in parts.
For example, he finds the overall production of the video unsatisfactory, as it contains a lot of marketing with grandiose statements but does not show what the community wants to see: “A lot of marketing that goes past me as a core Battlefield player.”
However, the new testing program “Battlefield Labs” brings some optimism for Siegismund. He mentions that EA previously had a testing program called “Gamechanger”, where content creators like himself were invited to test. But that was discontinued after Battlefield 5.
He appreciates the return of a testing program in which actual Battlefield players can provide feedback, summarizing: “Battlefield Labs gives hope.”
What does Siegismund say about the shown gameplay? In the video, we also got to see a first approximately 10-second gameplay clip, which Siegismund of course examined closely.
Regarding the destruction of buildings shown in the gameplay that explode, he said: “Destruction is an important point […]. Destruction is part of Battlefield. No other game does it as well as Battlefield,” explains Siegismund, adding, “In 2042 it was hardly a theme. Here things can fly again. Things need to fly.”
In addition, the content creator is pleased with a small detail that is, however, not confirmed at this time: The new Battlefield might not be a hero shooter.
Siegismund looked at the uniforms of the soldiers shown in the gameplay and noted: “It is, of course, also important to say: These are just soldiers. Soldiers shooting at other soldiers, and it’s not Santa Claus. […]. I welcome this very much. […] It is no longer a hero shooter, hallelujah ding dong.”
What is Battlefield Labs? Battlefield Labs is a new testing program that EA has introduced for the upcoming Battlefield. Players will have the opportunity to help in the development and improvement of the shooter through playtests with their feedback.
The feedback from players is supposed to help determine what needs improvement and what feels like the “true” Battlefield experience.
If the upcoming Battlefield releases in 2025, it could be one of the most exciting shooters of the year. However, since the game is currently still in pre-alpha, it is expected that it might take a while until its release. Until we have concrete information, Battlefield is not one of the 10 new shooters that are particularly interesting in 2025.
