In Pokémon GO, Giratina is about to undergo a massive change! It will learn new moves and become one of the best Ghost attackers.
These moves are new: The entire move pool of Giratina’s Altered Form will be revised. Data miners discovered this. The legendary Pokémon will learn moves like Shadow Ball, making it a strong Ghost attacker.
We will show you all the new moves and explain how these attacks will impact the legendary Pokémon.
These are the new moves of Giratina
| Old Moves | New Moves | |
| Fast Moves | Shadow Claw Fire Spin | Shadow Claw Dragon Tail |
| Charged Moves | Ancient Power Shadow Sneak Dragon Claw | Shadow Ball Dark Pulse Dragon Pulse |
What does this mean for Giratina? The legendary Pokémon has suffered from its poor moves. Its stats are decent, but its moves have been disastrous.
With the new moves, Giratina will finally be useful. Especially Shadow Ball greatly enhances the Pokémon. This will make it one of the best Ghost attackers in the game.
How good will Ghost Giratina be: With its Ghost moves, the legendary Pokémon will be a serious competitor to Gengar, who is the best Ghost attacker in the game.
While Gengar deals slightly more damage per second, Giratina can withstand almost double the damage. This means that with Giratina, we finally have a Ghost attacker that deals solid damage and can still take a hit.
Mewtwo ranks behind Gengar and Giratina among Ghost attackers. Giratina secures at least second place among Ghost Pokémon. If you prefer endurance, it could even take first place by a wide margin.
How good will Giratina as a Dragon be: The legendary Pokémon learns new Dragon moves, making it a better attacker of this type.
However, it faces too much competition from Dragon Pokémon, especially Pokémon like Rayquaza, Dragonite, or Palkia, which are better than Giratina. It can be a nice alternative but won’t reach the top attackers.
This is important: This moves change only affects Giratina’s Altered Form. It will be catchable for the first time starting April 2. The Origin Form, which has been around since November 2018, will likely keep its moves for now.
