“GOgantischer” event brings Gigantamax to Pokémon GO
When does the feature start? The Gigantamax feature will be introduced during the “GOgantischer” event in Pokémon GO. The event starts on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:00 AM and runs until Sunday, October 27, 2024, at 8:00 PM.
Which Pokémon can Gigantamax? At first, you will be able to find and challenge Venusaur, Blastoise, and Charizard in their Gigantamax forms. You can find the monsters in 6*-Dyna battles in Power Sources. If you’re lucky, you might receive all 3 Pokémon as Shiny as well.
How does a Gigantamax battle proceed? Essentially, a Gigantamax battle does not differ from a Dynamax battle. In the Power Sources, which change regularly in the game, you can find and challenge Gigantamax Pokémon.
However, the difficulty is significantly increased. In the official announcement from Niantic, it is mentioned that you need 10 to 40 trainers to successfully complete Gigantamax battles.
You should level up your Dynamax Pokémon properly and teach them strong Dyna-attacks before diving into battle.
These battles cannot be completed remotely; they must be done on-site. Once you defeat the Pokémon, you can then catch it.
What other content is available at the event? In the Pokémon GO web store, you can purchase a bundle of Dyna particles for $7.99 (around €8). Here you will receive a total of 4,800 Dyna particles.
Difference between Dynamax and Gigantamax
One of the most critical differences between Dynamax and Gigantamax in the main games is who can use the respective transformation. While Dynamax can be performed by all Pokémon, only a limited number of monsters can even use Gigantamax.
The transformation itself also has differences. While Pokémon in their Dynamax form generally look like their regular variants, just larger, this is different with Gigantamax.
