In Destiny 2, the Trials of Osiris are giving away their best weapon, Astral Horizon, to everyone. You just have to participate and not necessarily win, but hurry up.
Why get into the Trials for Christmas? The Trials of Osiris have finally arrived in Beyond Light. Here, the best players actually compete to earn 7 victories and reach the Lighthouse. The best weapons and stylish gear of the PvP side are unreachable for many.
However, until December 29, any Guardian can actually secure the best weapon from the endgame mode: the Astral Horizon. You don’t have to earn a single victory – the shotgun is a gift for participating.

This weapon is a gift: The shotgun Astral Horizon (eng. Astral Horizon) is one of the few top shotguns in the kinetic slot. In Season 12, the special weapon is the highlight of the Trials loot pool.
This is what makes the shotgun so good: Astral Horizon belongs to the slower-firing shotguns, but they hit hard. They can kill enemy Guardians from a distance with just one shot.
Currently, another shotgun of this type dominates PvP: Felwinter’s Lie (via destinytracker.com). However, you can only get this weapon back in Season 13, and it also belongs in the elemental slot. This makes Astral Horizon the currently best alternative.
Astral Horizon also stands out because you mostly have good perks to choose from. The God roll for PvP might look like this:
- Barrel: Full Choke (reduces spread) or Arrowhead Brake (+10 range, -15 handling)
- Magazine: Assault Mag (+10 rate of fire, +15 stability) or Enhanced Rounds (+10 range)
- Perk 1: Quickdraw (weapon can be drawn and swapped quickly)
- Perk 2: Opening Shot (improves range and precision on the first shot – resets every few seconds)
- Masterwork: Handling or Range
If you manage to go flawless to the Lighthouse, you can also look forward to the master version of the weapon. This has even better stats as a masterwork and through mods.
Get Astral Horizon easily in the Trials from 26.12. to 29.12.
Here’s how to guarantee the weapon: With an additional weekly bounty, Bungie made the Trials more attractive. The exclusive reward for the 3rd victory can only be earned through participation. And until December 29, that’s guaranteed Astral Horizon.
- You can virtually “fight through” to the shotgun and theoretically lose every single round.
- Even losses fill up the bounty, it just takes a few more rounds.
- You also don’t need to place a high value on your light level – it just needs to be above 1,210 to start.
The short version: Get the bounty “End Game” from Saint-14 and complete a few matches!
How do you get the most out of the Trials weekend? If you are in the Trials mood, you can also tackle the bounty with all 3 characters once each. This way, you get 3 versions of the shotgun. If the holidays bring you luck and you achieve 3 victories on your ticket, you will also receive an additional version of the shotgun.
Traditionally, when strong weapons are easy to obtain, more people play – the holidays are likely to attract Guardians in front of their screens. This means that through the Companion App and other LFG platforms people are currently looking for teammates (often without microphones). So, even if you don’t have a full friends list, you can easily snag the Astral Horizon.
