Ghost of Tsushima is a successful game by developer Sucker Punch for the PS4. Originally released as a singleplayer, it will receive a multiplayer update. The release is set for October. In the multiplayer, you can team up with your friends to play through new missions and story content.
What kind of multiplayer is this? The new co-op mode is called “Ghost of Tsushima: Legends” and will be available for free. You only need the base version of the game.
In August, the mode was roughly introduced. You will team up with up to 3 other players to complete various missions in multiplayer. These missions will increase in difficulty.
Instead of playing the main character Jin or one of his companions, you will have access to 4 different classes that we will introduce to you in the course of the article.
When will the multiplayer be released? As revealed in a blog post, the new mode is set to be released on October 16.
Update 1.1 brings the following in addition to the multiplayer:
- New Game+, a mode that allows you to replay the game with existing equipment but at a new difficulty level.
- New masks, armor, and emotes
- Loadouts for equipment.

Various Missions and Classes in Multiplayer
What does the multiplayer offer? In the Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer, you can experience different types of missions:
- Story missions (For 2 players) – Here, you can play various story experiences together with a friend at different difficulty levels.
- Survival missions (For up to 4 players) – In these missions, you must defend locations against waves of enemies. The longer you survive, the greater the rewards.
- Raids (For 4 players) – For these missions, you need the best equipment and a lot of teamwork. You’ll face tough challenges. The raids will only be released a few weeks after the update goes live.
As rewards, you can expect new cosmetics, new and powerful equipment, and new techniques for your classes.
What classes are available? In co-op, you do not play a known character but one of four classes. Each has its own skills and specialties. After a tutorial introducing the classes, you will need to choose one of them. However, you should also be able to unlock the other classes as you progress through the game.
The options are:
- The Samurai charges into battle and can easily dispatch enemies left and right. He rarely has trouble with health loss.
- The Hunter stays at the edge of the battle and dispatches enemies with explosive arrows and shoots multiple arrows at enemies with his ultimate.
- The Rōnin can revive allies and support other players. Additionally, this character can summon a ghost dog and even pet it.
- Assassins deal a lot of damage in a short time but can take significantly less punishment than the Samurai.
