With Ghost of Tsushima, developer Sucker Punch has created a hit for the PS4. The game has so far captivated players in singleplayer. However, this is set to change this fall with a major update.
What is coming in the fall? As announced on the PlayStation blog, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends is set to be released for the PS4 this fall. Legends is a free update that will introduce a multiplayer mode. However, you will need the original game version for this.
In this multiplayer mode, you and up to 3 other players, either friends or random allies via online matchmaking, will complete various missions cooperatively. These missions are expected to increase in difficulty.
Instead of playing the main character Jin or one of his buddies, you will have 4 different classes to choose from:
- Samurai
- Hunter
- Ronin
- Assassin
Each class is designed to be unique and bring different advantages and disadvantages.
What is the multiplayer about? The new missions revolve around four warriors who are considered legends in the stories told by the people of Tsushima.
While the singleplayer was played in an open world, Legends will take you to various locations inspired by Japanese folklore and mythology.
Ghost of Tsushima is a massive success in Japan
What kind of game is it? In this open-world game, you travel to the late 13th century, a time when the Mongol Empire was conducting a campaign through Asia. Tsushima is the island located between the Mongols and the Japanese mainland.
You take on the role of samurai warrior Jin Sakai, doing everything you can to stop the invasion and reclaim your home.
How successful is it? In Japan, Ghost of Tsushima is now the best-selling first-party game for the PS4. In about 3 weeks since its release, 330,000 copies have been sold in the country.
It has even surpassed titles like Spider-Man, as analyst Benji-Sales reported on Twitter:
If you can’t wait until the release of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, you can find the best MMORPGs for PS4 here.
