The new killer Ghost Face is on the PTR of Dead by Daylight. But players agree: Ghost Face is likely to be a joke.
Ghost Face has been available on the PTR of Dead by Daylight for a few days and was quite a surprise. Unfortunately, not because he is strong and exciting to play, but because he is far too weak and easy to counter. At least in the Dead by Daylight subreddit, players agree: Ghost Face needs massive buffs, otherwise his official release will be a fiasco.
His ability is too weak: Ghost Face has the ability to make his terror radius disappear and essentially switch to a “stealth” mode. Here he can “stalk” survivors, similar to Michael Myers. If he manages to stalk a survivor unnoticed for a few seconds, the survivor is marked “exposed” for 20 seconds and goes down with one hit. However, this has major problems:
- Survivors can counter the “stalking” by looking towards the killer. However, it only requires the camera to be facing the killer, not the actual character. Then Ghost Face’s ability immediately breaks. Experienced survivors are basically always looking around, so the ability is countered almost all the time.
- A “exposed” status of 20 seconds is too short. Only very few chases end in a hit within 20 seconds. If a pallet or a window is in the way, it’s almost impossible.
Ghost Face makes too much noise: Players find it particularly absurd that Ghost Face makes a lot of noise – even in stealth mode. Survivors can not only hear his loud breathing, but they are also informed when he switches to stealth mode. At the same time, the character also makes a lot of noise from his cloak and the fluttering fabric. It is hardly possible to sneak up silently.
Crouching has virtually no effect: It is also heavily criticized that crouching serves virtually no purpose for Ghost Face. This is more or less a “meaningless” mechanic as long as crouching does not bring additional functions or abilities. Until then, it’s just “a way to teabag survivors”. Whether that is really helpful for the game is debatable.

Standard killer with little potential: In summary, players believe that Ghost Face is currently only an “M1 killer” – that is, a killer who can only use the normal melee attack. That would be a shame for such a long-awaited character who has such great popularity.

PTR can still get many changes: Some players also point out that the PTR is made for exactly these things. If Ghost Face is too weak right now, they assume that the developers will tweak his abilities before release, even if time is short. After all, Ghost Face is supposed to appear in less than two weeks.
