In Red Dead Redemption 2, many situations invite you to do things that are against the law.
If no one notices and your face remains covered, it’s no problem. If you are seen, a manhunt will be initiated after you. This could end with a bounty on you.
Paying bounties in RDR 2 – Where?
If you commit crimes in Red Dead Redemption 2 and are seen, bounties will be placed on you. For example, NPCs will really dislike you if you are cruel to dogs.
Bounties only in certain regions: Each state in RDR 2 has its own bounties. This means if you are wanted in New Hanover with a large bounty, the people in West Elizabeth won’t care.
What is the drawback of a bounty?If a bounty is placed on you, it can happen that federal agents and bounty hunters lie in wait for you in unfavorable situations. To avoid this, you can pay the bounty yourself.
Where can you pay your bounty? You can settle your bounties at the post offices of the states. You can find them at train stations. They are clearly marked with an envelope icon on the map.
Just talk to the guy at the counter to pay the bounty. You can pay the bounty for different states at any post office.
How much money do I have to pay? It all depends on the crime you committed. Murders or robberies bring the highest bounties.
How high are the bounties? In Chapter 2, your bounty can be a maximum of 300 dollars. In Chapter 3, at first, it’s still 500 dollars, after “Sodom? Back to Gomorrah” then up to 1,500 dollars.
And … what if I don’t pay my bounty? In the state with bounties, you will keep encountering lawmen or marshals looking for you. You either flee from them or attempt to fight them. However, fleeing is the easier option.
If you do not resist the lawmen, you will go to prison. Then it’s either serve your sentence and pay the fine or hope that your gang will rescue you.
