The German YouTuber Max “iCrimax” Schuster was the victim of an armed robbery. He had two expensive watches stolen from him. Now he warns his colleagues that one should not present their private life too much in public – he made that mistake before the robbery.
What happened? A week ago, the Bild newspaper reported on the robbery of iCrimax. Now the YouTuber himself tells about the incident.
iCrimax had returned from vacation and was attacked in his underground garage together with his girlfriend by two masked men. One of the men threatened the YouTuber with a knife and in the end, the robbers stole two luxury watches from the brands Rolex and Audemars Piguet.
In his video, the YouTuber reports in detail about the incident and even offers a reward of over 10,000 euros for any information leading to the capture of the perpetrators.
iCrimax sends message to YouTube colleagues
This is what the YouTuber says: iCrimax also warns his YouTube colleagues, as the robbery could have happened because he previously announced his return to his apartment in his Instagram story. The robbers apparently saw this story and timed their attack perfectly.
Previously, he also showcased the purchase of his diamond-studded Audemars Piguet on Instagram and in a YouTube video. The perpetrators were well informed about his watches during the robbery and targeted exactly these valuables.
The YouTuber advises his colleagues not to showcase their public lives on Instagram so much anymore. He says: “Every YouTuber, every influencer keeps posting that they are currently […] on the go. Many have expensive watches, and we must also say that there is a danger behind that. Not everyone is your friend.”
These lessons iCrimax takes with him: The YouTuber has since processed the shock and has now learned his lessons from the incident.
I have learned from it, even though it was a very unpleasant lesson. In the future, I will only post things on Instagram with a delay. I will also not show everything I have and what I do.
Because I have learned that constantly posting in real-time where you are, what you are doing is simply dangerous.
Who is iCrimax? The German content creator has been active on YouTube since 2013 and has now over 2 million subscribers. He is thus one of the largest gaming YouTubers in Germany. On Twitch, iCrimax is less active, as other German streamers are more successful there.
His content mainly consists of videos about Fortnite and GTA 5. He also regularly uploads IRL videos.
What’s behind it: The gaming industry is growing bigger and with it, the popularity of the largest influencers. They make a lot of money with it and many of them then show their wealth to their community. Often, companies behind such influencers have offered them a lot of money.
In the community, there are indeed many fans who wish the influencer well, but also people who are not so friendly. However, these can be difficult to distinguish.
US streamer Ninja also flaunted his wealth in April 2020. He said that he would simply buy haters homeless.
