Anyone who has played World of Warcraft on one of the realms of the Connected Anetheron cluster has long been unable to use many features – and they did not appear on wowprogress. After a year, Blizzard has finally fixed the issues.
Have you played on one of the Connected Anetheron servers? If so, you likely faced some problems over the past year. Players who were active on one of these realms were unable to access most community features.
What is Connected Anetheron?
To ensure that players on low population realms can still enjoy the game, Blizzard merged realms some time ago, bringing the player base together. One of these clusters is Anetheron, which now includes the following realms:
- Anetheron
- Fortress of Storms
- Rajaxx
- Nathrezim
- Gul’dan
- Kil’jaeden
Players can cross-realm play due to the merger. Auction house, guilds, groups: all of this is possible without needing to transfer. However, there was a significant issue with this particular cluster.
No Arsenal, No Forum, and No Appearance on wowprogress!
Characters from the affected servers were not displayed in the Arsenal and could not be retrieved. The merger was essentially untraceable, like a ghost. You wanted to bring it up in the forum? It didn’t work. Posts in the forum could only be made from other realms.
The Arsenal app didn’t recognize characters either. Quickly checking the auction house or chatting with the guild from bed was also impossible. This was so frustrating that many players changed realms.
If Argus Had Been Laid on Anetheron for the First Time, No One Would Have Known
Especially frustrating: Affected characters also did not appear on wowprogress! This site is used by many players to compare achievements, recruit players, and show how much they have achieved in PvE content such as mythic raids or Mythic+ dungeons.
Larger guilds like “set sail for fail” even changed realms as a whole because of this. They found no new members and were practically excluded from the WoW lives of the raid guilds.
Just recently, Argus, the final boss in Antorus, the Burning Throne, was defeated on mythic difficulty. If this had happened on Anetheron, no one would have witnessed the World First kill.
The Solution – After a Year!
Only this Wednesday did we receive news from Game Master Radathryl. There was an update for the website that fixed some errors. Shortly after, there was a flood of responses from formerly affected players stating that they could finally post in the forum.
More players then reported that the other features are (again) functioning. The Arsenal app can be used properly again, characters are displayed as usual in the Arsenal.
All of this took a year. Since January, there have been reports about the issues, which were often just acknowledged. There were frequent hotfixes that supposedly solved the problem. However, this was not the case – players felt abandoned by Blizzard and frustration won out.
