What game is it about? The Twitch streamer Paul Frege has apparently recently started playing the mobile game Clash Royale. The game Clash Royale offers some pay-to-win opportunities. This means that those who invest real money in the game will progress faster.
The chance of particularly strong cards is increased with real money, and purchased currencies help to level up the cards faster.

Whom does Paul Frege turn to? He seeks advice from the Twitch streamer Trymacs. His rapid progress in Clash Royale in the past has apparently impressed his Twitch colleague Paul Frege so much that he wants to follow in his footsteps. In a clip from a Twitch stream (via YouTube), Paul Frege approaches Trymacs and asks him for advice.
Paul Frege first wants to know what else he can collect with his already purchased pass. Trymacs answers his question, and Paul Frege then hints that he wants to unlock even more: “I want to buy!” (Source: YouTube from 00:21).
Although Trymacs himself is at the forefront when it comes to pay-to-win, he holds back his Twitch colleague here a bit. He points out that Paul Frege already has good troops. However, he is not deterred from his plan and quickly makes the in-app purchases.
From one of the chests, he draws a good card, and Trymacs advises him to level up the card immediately. However, since Paul Frege does not have enough gold for that, it must be purchased with real money. Both Twitch streamers are happy in the end, as Paul Frege’s deck has become much stronger due to the upgrades.
Why is Trymacs the expert in this? Trymacs is known for quickly spending a lot of money in mobile games to progress faster. He fully exploits the pay-to-win concept and is also willing to invest several thousand euros at once. In the game Squad Busters, Trymacs had to call Apple Support to be allowed to invest more money in in-app purchases.
Especially in the game Clash Royale, Trymacs is willing to keep putting money into it. His “playing style” has led to him being regarded as a top player by the Twitch streamer Nicholas “Jynxzi” Stewart. The American streamer organized a tournament around Clash Royale and was impressed by Trymacs’ placement in the player charts. What he did not know: Trymacs had more or less bought his good card deck rather than actually earned it.
Trymacs’ passion for Clash Royale only competes with Clash of Clans.
