The German Twitch streamer Rezo reported in his stream about his stay in the hospital and the reasons behind it. It was mainly due to stress and lack of sleep that he experienced a kind of breakdown. Now he wants to draw the appropriate consequences.
Who is it about? Rezo started his career as an influencer originally on the YouTube platform. Here he uploaded covers of popular songs.
Due to his increasing popularity and his growing friendship with YouTubers like Julien Bam, he expanded his content. On his Twitch channel, he has over 730,000 followers and entertained an average of 10,761 viewers per stream last year (via SullyGnome). He streams every Sunday at 6:00 PM mainly in the Just Chatting category, where he reacts to various YouTube videos.
In 2020, Rezo founded his own company: Nindo. A website that provides statistics and analyses of social media. These are primarily intended for influencer marketing.
Rezo’s many commitments have now led to an incident that brought him to the hospital.
“I promise you, I will not stream for a while”
Why did Rezo have to go to the hospital? Rezo reported in a past Twitch stream, part of which was uploaded as a reaction on YouTube, that he had to go to the hospital.
One day at the office, his heart rate and blood pressure suddenly dropped from one moment to the next. He experienced sweating and headaches and additionally became dizzy. His team then called an ambulance.
In the ambulance, he received an IV, and at the hospital, they took his blood and conducted various tests. The reason for the breakdown: a stress reaction.
Rezo had too much stress and too little sleep, which ultimately led to his body reacting.

BARMER
Rezo streams out of pressure: Rezo further reports that he often streams out of a sense of “duty” to his viewers. He feels bad if he doesn’t go live at the usual time on Twitch, as he knows that the stream could help some viewers through a difficult time.
In case of a cancellation, he feels as if he is disappointing those viewers.
He is well aware that reality looks different and that his community understands if a stream is canceled for health reasons. However, he imposes this pressure on himself.
What are the consequences? Rezo continues, even though he did not take his symptoms seriously before, he wants to take care of himself in the future:
I am working on delegating responsibilities. I am practicing this. (…) I promise you, I will not stream for a while. I will not stream out of a sense of duty, and I will simply end streams (…), if I notice that it is costing me too much energy or I am just not feeling it.

The pressure as an influencer, whether as a Twitch streamer, YouTuber, or in other ways, can be enormously high, especially due to self-employment. The profession partly depends on how “relevant” one is, whether one can adapt to current topics and trends, or what niche one serves. Influencers must remain interesting. Especially with high viewer or view counts, the pressure increases and can lead to physical complaints.
