In Destiny 2, a mysterious case is engaging players. The German content creator Dr. BadBeard has discovered a secret message that is now intriguing the master detectives of the community.
This is about the secret:
- Bungie sent packages to selected content creators on June 22. Here we have reported extensively on MeinMMO about the contents of the mysterious box.
- In total, 45 Guardians worldwide received such a surprise box. Inside the case, there is, among other things, a UV lamp, a cassette, and a map that can only be deciphered under UV light.
- Notable English-speaking figures like Rick Kackis were included – but also the biggest German-speaking Destiny streamer Nexxoss Gaming and the previously known German-speaking Dr. BadBeard from Destiny 1 received a package from Bungie.
Immediately, speculation about the 45 cases began. The Guardians wondered: is this just PR for the ongoing Season 14 of Destiny 2 or is there more to it? Because Bungie is known for presenting riddles to the Guardians – some exotic puzzles take years to solve. The first breakthrough was achieved by the German content creator Dr. BadBeard, as he listened closely.
On the trail of the secret from Season 14 with good ears
This is the secret message: Dr. BadBeard, – or simply Simon – examined all the contents closely (in the title image). Especially the old-school cassette aroused his curiosity. And hidden there, alongside the soundtrack for Season 14, was also a secret story.
We hear a tale from Crow. The character formerly known as Uldren recounts his time as Spiders’ “servant”. As Crow wanders aimlessly through the tangled bay, he also meets some Eliksni (Fallen). The parties do not understand each other, suddenly music is heard, and a party night begins. The Eliksni dance with their four arms in the air to a song by Paul McCartney, while Crow claims to have one of the best nights of his life – all without understanding a word.

How did he find that out? According to his own statement, Simon is a hobby music producer, enjoys working on electronic tracks, and gets excited about music in video games. Due to his hobby, he has the necessary equipment to create a spectrogram from the cassette and examined the seemingly almost empty B-side of the cassette. Once digitized, the analog medium ultimately revealed the story of Crow among the Eliksni.
Simon thanks Bungie for considering him, even though he also expresses criticism about Destiny 2. He then notes that you can also experience the party from Crow’s story in the game: Destiny 2 now has a place where Fallen dance to Paul McCartney.
But what it all ultimately means and what the mysterious whispers really are, which can still be heard at the end, unfortunately, he does not know. Now the master detectives should help.

The “Wizards” of Destiny 2 are just starting to puzzle
What does this mean now? Dr. BadBeard immediately posted his discovery at Raid-Secrets (via reddit). Because, according to him, this is where the “wizards of the Destiny community” live, who love to crack Bungie’s riddles.
And indeed, the detectives immediately dive into the new data. There is a flood of technical terms and analyses about vacant spaces, notes that need to be played backwards, and more through reddit. Initial insights point to Vex sounds, Quria, the corrupted mind, and even the Glass Vault…
We might have to wait a while longer for the solution to the puzzle.
What do you think about such puzzles that Bungie keeps the Guardians busy with constantly? It is amazing how persistent the Destiny community is and in how many different areas there is expertise. Do you think the secret story on the cassette is just an Easter egg, or does it actually have something to do with the story of Season 14? Do you believe this is just the beginning of a new, big puzzle? Let us know in the comments.
