In the last 7 days, the German streamer Jens “Knossi” Knosalla has claimed the Twitch throne for himself. Measured by watch time, he achieved first place worldwide: But how exactly did he manage to do that?
This is why Knossi is now in first place: Streamer Knossi may not appeal to everyone with his exuberant style. However, his talent for captivating and entertaining many people is undeniable. The 35-year-old Twitch icon proves this once again.
The Twitch throne belongs to him, with a clear lead over Canadian Twitch streamer “xQc”. Knossi gathered around 1.5 million more hours of watch time on his streaming clock. xQc actually belongs to the largest Twitch streamers in the world.
Rank 1 was ensured by the livestreaming event “Angelcamp 2”, which was organized by Knossi and broadcast from September 9 to 12.

Angelcamp 2 brings in prominent guests for world rank #1 – what’s behind it?
What is Angelcamp 2? Angelcamp was a live-streaming event that was broadcast on Twitch over multiple days. Since it was already a huge success in 2020, a round 2 was soon established. For the event, Knossi invited various celebrities from the web, TV, and the German music business.
Together, they set up camp on an island in the Czech Republic. With the help of angel expert Claudia Darga, the event was meant to be a relaxed camping weekend.
If it weren’t for the viewers who got to vote on what the participants should do. Around 150,000 viewers at the same time were able to be entertained by Angelcamp 2021 — just on Knossi’s channel. But who actually participated in the camp?

Despite the top spot: Not everyone is satisfied with Angelcamp 2
This is why animal rights activists are concerned: The animal rights organization PETA sharply criticized the event (via Peta.de). Even the location of this year’s Angelcamp set alarm bells ringing for animal rights activists. In 2021, the camp took place in the Czech Republic. PETA accused Knossi and Sido of fleeing abroad with their project.
The accusation is based on the claim that Knossi and his team are afraid of the consequences that could arise from improper handling of the animals. In 2020, the animal rights organization already threatened legal action against those responsible for Angelcamp.
Decisive for the pending lawsuit was the “Catch and Release” method, which is prohibited under certain circumstances, where fish are caught and released. Now PETA is serious and is filing a lawsuit (via esports.de).
This participant is not returning: Not only PETA is dissatisfied with how Angelcamp went. Rapper Sido also expressed that he is not fond of Angelcamp 2 and does not feel comfortable. He was particularly annoyed that viewers had so much decision-making power over him.
For next year, he says he would be happy to be behind the cameras in production, but not as a participant.
The viewer numbers from Angelcamp 2 have shrunk significantly
Although Knossi reached first place with an impressive 156,000 concurrent viewers and the length of the stream, Angelcamp 2021 was not as successful as the previous year. In 2020, nearly twice as many people tuned in to the camping trip with 300,000 viewers as this year.
Some viewers felt there was bad air and a lousy atmosphere in the camp — a possible reason for the drop in viewers.
Those who are now pinning their hopes on the Horrorcamp 2021 will be disappointed. This event was canceled. Knossi mentioned this after MontanaBlack offered to host the camp at his house:
We won’t do Horrocamp anymore. We couldn’t pass on the feeling of eeriness that we had to the viewers.

Not only Knossi started a camp in 2021. YouTuber BreakingLab used a similar concept, paired with a glass dome, to draw attention to the climate disaster: YouTopia 2021: German YouTubers live for days under a glass dome – but why?
