With Cryofall, a new survival MMO in Early Access on Steam has been released. Behind the new game is Daedalic Entertainment as publisher, a well-known German studio in a completely different field.
What is Cryofall? Cryofall is a new survival MMO on an alien planet. Similar to the single-player game Rimworld, you crash on an unknown planet and must survive.
- Cryofall offers an isometric perspective with detailed graphics
- One of the main features is survival and building your own home
- You also have to deal with up to 200 players per server.
- In this, you can establish a functioning economy and trade, leading to large industries.
- Economic systems such as coin minting, trading, and vending machines are managed by players.
- Support for mods is also provided.
Cryofall has been available on Steam in Early Access since April 3, 2019.
Who developed the game? Cryofall is developed by AtomicTorch, a developer studio from Singapore. AtomicTorch is responsible for games like Dinocide and Voidexpanse, both of which have to deal with “mixed” reviews on Steam. (Status: April 10, 2019)
However, the publisher behind the studio for Cryofall is the German studio Daedalic Entertainment from Hamburg. Daedalic is one of the most renowned studios for story-games internationally and is famous for several iconic game series:
- Deponia
- Edna & Harvey
- The Whispered World
How is Cryofall doing? So far, Cryofall is performing significantly better than the previous games from AtomicTorch. With 107 reviews, it has a “mostly positive” rating (79%, as of April 10, 2019)
The most popular features are the beautiful graphics and the challenging tasks. The entry into the game is said to be quite easy. Supporters often compare Cryofall to the survival classic Rust and recommend fans of Rust, ARK, Rimworld, and Conan Exiles to take a look.

Negative criticism exists regarding player behavior and PvP. Even if the game is easy to understand, the startup is almost impossible. Existing players can easily slaughter and rob newcomers repeatedly without protection. Getting into the relevant features is therefore very difficult.
