Lionheart Studio has made a name for itself overnight with the release of the MMORPG Odin: Valhalla Rising. The game has taken off, and the creators have since earned millions, even though the MMORPG has not yet been released in the West. Publisher Kakao Games now wants to change this and is definitely aiming for a release this year.
What kind of game is this? Odin: Valhalla Rising is an MMORPG, available on PC or mobile, that is dedicated to Norse mythology.
In detail, the focus is on Valhalla – the place where the father of the gods, Odin, gathers the bravest warriors for another battle, who have proven themselves worthy in earthly life. According to Publisher Kakao Games, it is set to be released in 2023 (via Facebook.com).

How successful is Odin: Valhalla Rising? Looking at the release in 2021 in the Asian market, Lionheart Studio landed a hit back then. Analysts estimate that in the first two days after release, around 11 million euros in revenue were generated for the MMORPG.
So it is no surprise after game.mk.co.kr (via game.mk.co.kr) that Odin: Valhalla Rising reached first place in the Google Play Store within a short time, surpassing the reigning leader Lineage M.
According to Pulse (via pulsenews.co.kr), Lionheart Studio was even valued at around 2.8 billion euros due to its ongoing success in 2022.
However, the game has stagnated in the East. According to a ranking regularly maintained by GameMeca (via gamemeca.com), the MMORPG now ranks 25th, placing it in the midfield.
Project Q aims to build on the success of Odin: Valhalla Rising
What is Project Q? Recently, Project Q (via Facebook.com) was announced. It is set to become the next MMORPG from the developers and will not be released before 2025. The MMORPG will be a spin-off of the current Odin: Valhalla Rising.
Now some players rightly wonder why another MMORPG with the same background is being announced after the release of Odin: Valhalla Rising, especially since the existing MMORPG has not even been released yet in the West.
The developers explain: “[…] While Odin: Valhalla Rising and Project Q share the same universe, there are still some differences.” However, the developer did not reveal any details about the gameplay or combat system. Lionheart Studio refers to future announcements.
Whether it will have a classic tab-targeting system or play like a Black Desert Online with an action and combo system remains to be seen.
What is the difference from Odin: Valhalla Rising? The developer states that, unlike the current Viking MMORPG, the lore and story of Project Q will take a much darker path. Unlike in Odin: Valhalla Rising, humans and other mortals are at odds with each other just as the gods themselves are.
There should also be differences in visuals. The camera perspective will be completely different from Odin: Valhalla Rising. Additionally, the developer has taken player feedback to heart and plans to include more options regarding male characters.
Finally, Project Q and the current MMORPG are set to position themselves visually differently from one another. According to Lionheart Studio, this could even encourage fans of Odin: Valhalla Rising to switch games.
