KeepUp Survival has been in Early Access on Steam for a few months and is developed by the German developer Witte’s Studio. MeinMMO introduces you to the game.
What is KeepUp Survival? As the name suggests, it is a classic survival game.
- You are on a lonely island covered by a dense forest. As usual, you search for resources, build shelters, and fight for survival.
- There are numerous animals, creatures, and also buildings that you can explore.
- The game is supposed to offer various features such as building, crafting, taming, and cooking in its final form, and growing different types of food should also be possible.
The game primarily focuses on exploration and does not feel like a hardcore survival game that relies on realism; rather, it seems to cater to fans of cozy survival simulations.
Who developed the game? KeepUp Survival has been in Early Access since February 26, 2021. It is developed by Witte’s Studio, a German developer. Through the YouTube and Twitch channel, it can be discovered that it appears to be a single developer. However, several people may also be involved in the project.
Fitzpiepe o.O, aka Norman, has been dealing with computers for 25 years according to his channel and has taught himself programming. He is now working as an indie developer and is responsible for development. Here you can watch a gameplay excerpt:

Currently, the game has 71% positive reviews, and 32 from the last 30 days rate the game even at 84%. Although the game still suffers from some technical issues and many features are still missing.
Most players see great potential in the survival game. It is praised for being beginner-friendly and having a lot of love for detail. The companions are also positively highlighted. Here are some excerpts from the reviews:

What is not well received? Negative voices primarily criticize that players often run around aimlessly. In their view, the game does not provide clear tasks to accomplish. Bugs and glitches are also a topic. Grind is said to be a problem as well.
However, even negative reviews like that of AnubisAnkh see potential for KeepUp Survival, who is already looking forward to a return: “I cannot recommend this game – not yet. To be fair, it has a lot of potential, and if development continues, I look forward to coming back and perhaps changing my opinion.”
The base game currently costs €13.99 in Early Access on Steam. By the way: Witte’s Studio is working on two more games – KeepUp Hunter and KeepUp Pirates.
Hunter is a zombie-slicing co-op shooter, while Pirates takes you to a comic-style pirate island where you have to survive similarly to Keep Up Survival.
