4 well-known MMORPGs are leaving the German publisher Gamigo. They want to improve the players’ experience.
The developers of Last Chaos, Aura Kingdom, Shaiya, and Grand Fantasia want to create a better experience for players. A more suitable service is needed, which is why Nexon, T-Entertainment, and X-Legend Entertainment are ending their collaboration with their current publisher Gamigo.
The company Gamigo does not have the best reputation
Gamigo is known for buying MMORPGs like collectibles. However, the support is reportedly not so good, according to players. When Gamigo took over the MMORPG Rift, players feared that the game would die soon.
Behind Gamigo is investor Remco Westermann and his group “Media und Game Invest”. He originally wanted to buy, renovate, and resell Gamigo. However, he recognized the current potential of video games and kept the company.
His primary focus is on growth rather than the games themselves. The strategy is not to develop large new titles, but to buy successful games and expand them. Four of them are now leaving him.
What does this mean for the games? Last Chaos and Shaiya will be distributed in the future by indie publisher Fawkes Games. Grand Fantasia and Aura Kingdom will be taken over by the developer X-Legend itself.
Each of the MMORPGs issued a statement regarding the transfer. “To provide better service next year, we need to end part of our old infrastructure,” it says, for example, on Shaiya’s site. It was not an easy decision, but it is supposed to make the experience and gameplay more pleasant for active players.
Player progress will be retained
What will happen to the data? The player data will be anonymized during the transfer. You will receive a private token via email, with which you then carry out the transfer to the new publisher. However, this does not happen automatically; each player must take care of it themselves.
The MMORPGs intend to provide appropriate transfer services in January. They ask their players to check the email addresses of their accounts.
They also ask players to spend their Aeria Points as soon as possible. These are points that can be used to purchase content for real money, which currently only works in the publisher’s shop. After the transfer, you will no longer be able to use the points, as the currency will change.
