Today is Christmas Eve – but not everyone can spend the day with their loved ones. Many people are alone due to the Corona crisis or other reasons. The German community of Fallout 76 has planned an event for this reason: They will be dressed as Santa Claus and Krampus, roaming Appalachia and celebrating Christmas with players who would otherwise be alone.
What kind of event is this? Today, on December 24, 2020, two of the largest German streamers for Fallout 76 are hosting a Christmas event. In festive costumes, they will visit other players and give them gifts – but only if they are nice.
You may already know the streamer Jakob0678 from his community event where he has awarded the most beautiful camps. He and Rawpunzelchen will be roaming Appalachia, distributing toys on the PC version of Fallout 76. Jakob reveals to us how the idea of gifting for Christmas came about:
In a conversation with rawpunzelchen, it turned out that we both wanted to stream around the same time on the 24th. That’s when the idea came to us to do it together and bring the Fallout community a little closer together.
We wanted those who might not have anyone today to do something with others and spend Christmas with the community. Following the motto “Naughty or Nice,” we will roam Appalachia and gift all the nice players with toys. Those who have been naughty will receive a piece of coal from Krampus.
If you want to participate, tune in from 5 PM on both of their Twitch channels, follow them, and join the chat. You can find the channels here:
Giveaways and Prizes for Christmas
What can you win? The two streamers are also hosting a giveaway. There will be Paysafe cards, keys for Fallout 76, and even some particularly powerful “legacy weapons” to win.
With this, they want to ensure that not only PC players benefit. Since the event aims to bring the Fallout community together, players on PlayStation or Xbox will also have a chance at the prizes, even if they cannot be there live.
This is what Fallout 76 offers for the community: Earlier this year, the community demonstrated how closely they can stand together. When a player lost their house in a fire, fellow players helped with donations.
But it’s not just the community that cares for its members. Bethesda itself shows how important the players are. For example, they granted a player with a disability the wish to have “something of their own” and added a wheelchair to the game.
The Fallout community is considered one of the best and friendliest in the entire gaming sector, and many players go out of their way to welcome newbies or delight their fellow players. Sometimes that takes a lot of work. For example, players on Xbox can visit an entire city built by one player. MeinMMO spoke with the sole builder and mayor of this player city.
