After players were able to explore the new area Dragonspine with the event “Chalk and Dragons”, the new event “Lost Treasures” started on January 8, 2021. The event offers plenty of interesting rewards, including Original Resin and a Seelie. MeinMMO explains how the event works and why it’s worth your time to check it out.
What is it about? On January 8, 2021, the “Lost Treasures” event started in Genshin Impact. The event is part of the big update 1.2 of the game, which officially launched on December 23.
Together with Ulman, an old treasure hunter, you will search for buried treasures. You will collect coins that you can later spend in the event shop for various items.

The event “Lost Treasures” runs from January 8, 2021 to January 18, 2021 at 4 AM. During this period, you can complete the event tasks. The event shop is open until January 22, 2021.
You must have reached Adventure Rank 20 at a minimum and completed the Prologue – Act 1 “The Stranger Who Caught the Wind”. After that, you can take on Ulman’s quest.
There are several tasks you can complete during the event. For completed tasks, you will receive an event currency that you can spend on rewards.
Ulman’s task takes only a few minutes. After a short conversation, you can already start looking for the treasures. The event is significantly smaller than the “Chalk and Dragon” event.
Definitely! You can get a total of 300 Original Resin, which you would normally have to earn through daily quests for 5 days. You need Original Resin for the gacha system of Genshin Impact. You can use the Original Resin for the upcoming 5-star character Ganyu that is supposed to come in mid-January. Also cool is the pet in the form of a Seelie, which you can unlock, which is expected to only be available during the event.
Genshin Impact Event: How the event works
What you need to keep in mind: Similar to the previous flying challenge in Genshin Impact, the event is available step by step. This means you cannot complete the event in one day.
- Ulman marks two newly discovered locations in his treasure book every day.
- In total, there are 14 treasure zones. After 7 days, all locations will be unlocked.
How to start the first task: To start the event, you need to travel to the Stone Gate and speak with Ulman. Ulman is marked on the map with a treasure chest. After a short conversation, you can already start looking for the treasures.
Genshin Impact Event: How to find the lost treasures
This is how you should proceed: After completing the task, you will gain access to Ulman’s treasure book. Here, two treasure zones will be recorded every day.
On the right side, it will show you where you can find the treasures.
To find the treasures, you need to equip the Seelie you received from Ulman through the help menu. This works like with the food pouch or the camera.
Once you reach the area, pay attention to the Seelie that accompanies you. The brighter it shines, the closer you are to the treasure. This is somewhat reminiscent of the Fischl event, where the divine eye also shone brighter the closer you got to the asteroid shards.
Genshin Impact: Here you find the first special treasure
As soon as you have successfully completed the first three treasure areas, you will unlock a special treasure. According to the game, this is located in the “Luminous Valley.” You can find this northwest of Mondstadt.
Here you will find a wooden gate under which you will find the challenge. The challenge consists of defeating a water and an ice mage. However, you must not be frozen more than three times.
As a reward, you will receive experience books and 60 Original Resin.
The multiplayer challenge of “Lost Treasures” offers
How to unlock the challenge? After you have completed the first four treasure areas, you can dig up the challenge pillar in the fourth area (Guili Plains). You will need to destroy 6 barrels within 15 seconds. Teammates who support you will receive loot in the form of experience books, weapon ore, or Mora.
However, you do not receive event currency for completing the challenge.
Genshin Impact Event: More rewards
What kind of currency is this? For each completed treasure hunt, you will receive Iron Coins. This is the event currency of “Lost Treasures.”
What can you spend the currency on? With the event currency, you can unlock various rewards in the event shop:
- Materials for character ascension like “A Hero’s Wisdom”, which gives you 20,000 XP per use.
- Mystical Enhancement Ore that you can use to enhance your weapons.
- Mora, the in-game currency for upgrading weapons or artifacts or leveling up characters.
- 300 Original Resin.
- A cosmetic mini-Seelie that accompanies you on your journeys but has no other use.
How long can I spend my currency? The event shop will be available until January 22. Until then, you can spend your currency and secure the rewards.
