Although this month only sees the release of update 1.6 for Genshin Impact, there are already some leaks about 1.7. According to these leaks, a total of 5 characters are expected to come with the update. MeinMMO summarizes what to expect according to the leaks.
What’s coming with 1.7? If the leaks are to be believed, the 1.7 update will bring a total of five new characters. Some of them have been known for a while.
What are these leaks? The supposed information comes from various sources that have repeatedly published leaks about Genshin Impact. Leaks have been quite common in recent months, which is why there are numerous community members who publish such information.
One of the more well-known sources is the Discord channel of “Wangsheng Funeral Parlor”, whose information was subsequently published in the Genshin Impact subreddit (via reddit.com).
These characters are reportedly coming with 1.7 according to the leaks:
- Ayaka
- Sayu
- Yoimiya
- The Electro Traveler
- An unknown 4-star character
Keep in mind: Leaks can be wrong or even contain false information. It has happened before that characters were leaked for a specific update but were ultimately not included. For example, many players assumed that Ayaka and Yoimiya were already planned for update 1.5.

4-Star Character Sayu
Who is Sayu? There isn’t much information yet. However, it seems Sayu has some special abilities.
- Sayu is likely an Anemo character with a claymore.
- Her elemental abilities allow her to generate powerful Anemo explosions by tapping the corresponding button.
- Holding down the button transforms her into a ball, allowing her to roll around the battlefield without consuming stamina.
- She also has an AoE skill that heals team members in the vicinity, similar to Diona.
5-Star Characters Ayaka and Yoimiya
What about the other characters? Ayaka and Yoimiya have been circulating in numerous leaks for months. Ayaka is particularly eagerly awaited by fans, as it seems that Ayaka could become one of the best characters in Genshin Impact.
The leaked base stats are particularly strong, and her Cryo attribute allows for powerful combinations. There is less concrete information about Yoimiya. She likely has the Pyro element and uses a bow in combat.
Both characters originate from Inazuma, which is heavily inspired by Japan, and will be the next big area in Genshin Impact.

Electro Element for the Traveler – The Strongest Yet?
What’s the deal with the Electro Traveler? Essentially, this is not a new character but a new element for the main character, which is played from the beginning of the story. Leaks about this circulated even before update 1.5.
Travelers can only change their form at the statue in the respective region. For Liyue and Mondstadt, there are the Anemo and Geo elements for the Traveler. Now, a new element for the Traveler would also imply a new region in Genshin Impact.
However, it would require new statues for the Electro element, which would likely be found mainly in Inazuma. If the leak is correct and the Electro Traveler is coming with 1.7, there must already be at least smaller regions of Inazuma in this update.
According to the leaks, the Electro Traveler is expected to bring good energy recharge for himself and the team. Allegedly, it is said to be the strongest element for the Traveler so far.
Additionally, an unknown 4-star character is set to join the game with 1.7.
Here’s again the warning: Leaks should generally be taken with caution. Even if the information sounds plausible, things can always change or the info can be incorrect.
When can we expect 1.7? Normally, updates are released in a 6-week rhythm. Since 1.6 is set to release on June 9th, you can expect 1.7 around mid-July. Until then, we will have a clearer understanding of whether the leaks are correct or not.
