Genshin Impact revealed the appearances of the two new female characters: Yun Jin and Shenhe. The two are receiving a lot of praise and enthusiasm from fans. MeinMMO summarizes the facts about these two figures and the community’s reactions.
Before a new patch Genshin Impact releases the appearance of upcoming new characters every time – and this time is no different. Yun Jin and Shenhe are said to be the two fresh heroines in the game.
Who is Yun Jin? We have reported on Yun Jin several times and her leaks have been circulating online for almost a year now (via Twitter). Yun Jin is said to be a dancer, singer, and brewer who works at the Heyu Tea House in Liyue.
While she was initially suspected to be an Anemo character, she has now indeed become a Geo character. The speculation arose because Yun Jin wore a greenish divine eye as an accessory in an in-game cutscene (via Twitter).
However, the leak from last year was confirmed and she became a Geo element:
Yun Jin also wields a spear as a weapon. With her, the other Geo characters gain additional support. Previously, Itto and Gorou were announced as Geo heroes and will be available in patch 2.3.
According to other characters in the game, she is supposed to have new ideas for opera pieces when she drinks a beverage she enjoys. Furthermore, Yun Jin is described as extremely friendly and open to jokes by Hu Tao.
Who is Shenhe? Shenhe seems to be a loner who comes from a clan of exorcists. Shenhe is regarded as the “Ethereal Soul amidst the mortal realm.” She also wields a spear and is of the Cryo element.
Shenhe was also mentioned in last year’s leak as “Shenli” (via Twitter). Back then, she was considered a Cryo claymore user.
She appears moody and serious to Ganyu and Xingqiu. They cannot properly gauge her and are afraid of doing something wrong when she is around, as Shenhe is said to possess a turbulent temperament.
The community is excited about Yun Jin and Shenhe
Yun Jin has gathered nearly 30,000 retweets and 71,000 likes after an hour. Shenhe received even more approval with 42,000 retweets and 90,000 likes in the same time.

- HaNiQ_7 is lamenting because he lacks enough funds for the awesome character: “I’m broke, please stop.”

However, some players note that she was previously leaked as an Anemo user and are somewhat disappointed that Yun Jin is indeed a Geo character now.

- kai_luvscats seems to be a fan of spear users: “I can’t spend that much money, but I want to complete my spear family!”

Other players are disappointed that she also wields a spear – like the already available 4-star character Rosaria.
Since many spear users followed, a few fans are annoyed that both Yun Jin and Shenhe wield a spear as a weapon. They wished for different weapons. Genshin Impact itself tweeted “Spear Impact” under their announcements of the two new heroines, poking fun at themselves.
However, spear users are still in the minority. There are a total of 7 characters that use this weapon, while the other weapons are represented by 8 or more figures.
